Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san (The Helpful Fox Senko-san) Introduction and Story
Nakano is your normal salaryman who works hard for a company that sucks him dry. One day, to help with Nakano’s troubles, an 800 year old kitsune girl named Senko-san appears. Senko is ready to take on all of the chores and tasks you’d expect from your stereotypical housewife, but Senko might just be what Nakano needs.
1. Senko
One of the biggest highlights of Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san has to be in the main character, Senko. She’s not busty or overly moe; Senko is just a soothing kitsune girl who wants to help with your troubles. Plus, Senko’s reactions to more modern world affairs is adorable. How could you not love watching Senko?
2. Relaxing Anime
There’s just something about iyashikei slice of life that can be quite relaxing. Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san proves that as it just helps you melt the stress from the day away. Nothing dramatic happens. There’s barely any conflict. It’s just something to watch and feel at ease with, and for many of us working folks, it’s just what we need.
1. Meaningless Side Characters
Yozora and Shiro, even the human Yasuko, really hold so little meaning to the entire series of Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san. Sure, it’s great to have 3 kitsune characters, but really, only Senko has any importance. The other 2 have barely any meaning and then Yasuko is just thrown in for some slight comedic relief. This anime could easily have just been about Nakano and Senko, and very little would change except for the minor conflict at the end, which was not really even there.
2. Underdeveloped Underlying Plot
We’re not sure why iyashikei slice of life anime try to pretend like there’s going to be drama when there isn’t, but it’s done terribly in Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san. There’s some underlying plot involving Senko and Nakano from many lives in the past, and then there’s drama between Senko and Yozora, but the past involving Senko and Nakano is only referenced slightly, and the conflict between Senko and Yozora can barely be called “conflict.” It’s all so unnecessary. If you are going to put in some plot, go for it all the way; but if you can only half-ass it, don’t try.
Final Thoughts
