Ah this anime looks so good. I feel like we are looking at a setup like Planetarian. The world has been destroyed, the girls are out scavenging for supplies, the emotion is very raw.

I was thinking a little like Gakkougurashi! (School-Live!). We don't know if danger is living in the shadows.

The obvious military theme is very seinen as well.

So Ra No Wo To & Made in Abyss fans will love this one. Girls going on an adventure is always well-received.

Synopsis

A long time has passed since humanity’s culture, which had thrived and prospered, met its end. At the end of the world, most of humanity met their deaths and even other living creatures perished. The complex cities became maze-like ruins and the machines, with no one to maintain them, stopped working. In this world where no one even wonders when the end happened or began any more, two girls continue their journey without a destination. Today too, Chito and Yuuri wander around the ruins in their beloved Kettenkrad.

So begins a heartwarming, dystopian fantasy about the end of the world.

Three Episode Impression

Chito and Yuuri are two characters who wander through the world. No, they are not wandering like Vash the Stampede does, rather, these girls are exploring a world that, for all intents and purposes, is dead. The surface is freezing, snow frequently falls on cities that were clearly once megalopolises, and they forage and scavenge for food on this dead world. They are on a final trip, as the title implies to find food or perish.

Honestly, this one too fell on the fence before it started airing as being an anime that could be great or boring, and honestly Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou is just the seinen anime that we needed. In a sea of seinen anime that are just moe blobs, Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou really does give your soul that sort of refreshing jolt that it needs as you watch this anime. You are not going to be passed out with this anime, rather you anticipate to see just what the girls are going to discover next. Plus, the cities look breathtakingly awesome that you want to go exploring with them. If you like seinen anime, then you need to get on this one stat. Also, have you read the conspiracy theories that are out there? Some really put the series into focus!
