Rudy being reborn as a child means he is forced to re-endure childhood all while retaining the intelligence/memory of his former life. Luckily, this allows Rudy to think quickly despite his reincarnated age and gives him an edge over most in his new world. In an attempt to also prevent mistakes of his previous life, Rudeus tries to obtain as much knowledge of the new world he’s in as soon as he can such as how magic works and different languages such as the Beast-God language. Our boy Rudy earns a lot of props from us here at Honey’s Anime as he tries to be a better man than who he formerly was.

You’ll quickly learn that in the world of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, Rudy is a pervert and doesn’t hide that trait of his. From his original magic master Roxy to his student/cousin Eris Boreas Greyrat, Rudy is quick to show his hands itch for more than just textbooks and magic. Rudy is quick to use his hands to cop a feel when the moment strikes or to nab some panties from his cute master. While many might feel that Rudy is to be shamed for those actions, we do give him some credit for being so quick to boast his lustful side. Side note, do not try to be like Rudy in real life as that might cause you to be thrown in jail or be arrested…

What made Rudy so loveable to us here at Honey’s Anime is the fact that despite his magical ability and perverted actions, he’s quite a relatable protagonist. Early on in Jobless Reincarnation, we learn Rudy was bullied greatly and that caused him to become reclusive. As many of us have suffered the pains of bullying, we understand Rudy’s attempt at overcoming his fears/scars and venturing forward in life. Rudy isn’t trying to be super cool like many isekai protagonists but instead is relying on what his previous life offered him to get him through this new world and equally learn from his past failures to become a better man with his newfound lease on life.

Rudy might be short and still in the body of a child but don’t let his form fool you. In the very first few episodes of Jobless Reincarnation, we see Rudy go beyond the world’s current perception of magic and begin to cast spells without the need for words. Rudy has magical talent and while he isn’t a swordsman like his father Paul or Eris, his magic ability combined with his quick movements makes him a formidable force on the battlefield. Rudy did destroy a powerful snake monster with one blow after it was stunned by his allies. Don’t mess with this kid…he’s got powers that will overcome you in a flash!

In our minds, as cool as Rudy might be and as powerful, his greatest gift is his heart. Rudeus is a kind-hearted boy as evident in his attempts at overcoming fears of a specific race we see later in the series and his attempts at helping a young Sylphiette try to go to a prestigious school despite the cost of admission. Rudy might be a pervert and he equally can be a bit cocky—as evident in later episodes when he tries to make his image better at the cost of another’s life—but he is generally trying to be a good person first and foremost. Rudy has a vision of making a better version of himself but we don’t forget that he died trying to save a young woman in his original world and that means he’s already an amazing guy in our minds.
