Being with someone who will turn into an animal if hugged by the opposite sex might turn most people away. This isn’t the case for Tohru Honda. Despite learning this fact about Kyo Soma and his family, she still cares for him deeply and wants to be by his side. He comes off as angry and standoffish at first but being around Tohru really changes him. Kyo’s feelings towards Tohru begin to change and he eventually admits to himself that he loves her. While Tohru has yet to realize her feelings for him, we know it’s coming. Especially after seeing episode 15.

With graduation right around the corner, future plans are what should be on everyone’s mind. But for Kyo, all he could think about was staying by Tohru’s side. He knows he’s running out of time so it’s only a matter of time before he confesses his feelings before it’s too late. While they aren’t technically a couple yet, the chemistry between them is palpable so we know that this love boat is set to sail soon.

Kaguya Shinomiya and Miyuki Shirogane are definitely a different kind of couple because instead of admitting their feelings towards each other, they devise plans to try to get the other to confess their feelings first. The first to confess their feelings will lose this war of love and be looked down upon (or so they think).

While we know that things would be so much easier if they would just put away their pride and admit how they feel, it’s hilarious and cute to see the lengths they will go to not only to hide their true feelings but to try to get the other to confess theirs. From trying to trick the other to invite them to a movie to trying to make the other open an umbrella first, there’s nothing these two won’t do to try to keep their feelings a secret. Although Kaguya accidentally confesses a little bit of how she feels in episode 10.

When Miyuki’s dad, who Kaguya doesn’t know, insults him to try to start a conversation with Kaguya, she doesn’t take it lightly. She mentions his good grades, cool eyes, and even how she didn’t believe that there were good people in the world until she met him. Even though she was embarrassed once she learned his true identity, this was still an extremely cute moment. They might be too prideful right now to admit their feelings for one another, but someone will eventually have to give in to end the war. With feelings this strong, there’s no way they can keep this up forever.

These couples are definitely different from your typical high school romance. Both of these couples bring a different view of love to the table. However different the love may be, both couples are similar in how they try to hide their feelings in some way, whether intentionally or unintentionally. It doesn’t seem like Kaguya or Miyuki would be willing to give in to their feelings right now, but maybe if Tohru and Kyo took a page from their playbook and began conjuring up ridiculous plans, we’d be able to see at least their love bloom sooner. We can only hope that this could be the case. Most couples in anime move quickly, expressing their love within a day of realizing their feelings. While that might seem too fast, these couples are definitely taking things entirely too slow!
