Manaria Friends aka Mysteria Friends (IDK Why they translated it like this, but ok) has finally come. As a majority of the fanbase may be unaware, this was actually supposed to air Spring 2016. That’s right; almost three years ago. The air date came and went, and then about a week later, the site posted that the anime was cancelled until further notice. So to finally see it in action is somewhat refreshing.

The series really holds nothing back blending fantasy and slice of life seamlessly. The story flows between Anne and Grea as they live and are friends at a magical academy. The first episode was about Anne and her adventures while episode 2 was about Grea molting. I was worried that the series was going to drag or be 100% fanservice and while the first was a fun adventure with Anne, episode two was almost complete fanservice. Not bad fanservice though, as I found it somewhat less shameful than others. Anyway so we watch Grea molt and everyone thinks she is dying. Anne runs of on an adventure to save her and we get this super cute story.

I thought it was going to be boring, but it’s fantastic. It’s iyashikei but with enough energy to keep you wanting more.

This week’s episode of Doukyonin wa Hiza, Tokidoki, Atama no Ue. was quite the laugh what with Kawase wanting to come visit Subaru just to see Haru all the time. Poor Subaru didn’t know what to do with himself with the constant company. Then apparently Haru was having an issue with apparitions. Anyway, the moment in Doukyonin wa Hiza, Tokidoki, Atama no Ue. that I want to talk about has to do with Subaru’s parents. Subaru comes across a photo album that his mother put together of the vacation spots that she had gone to and intended to take Subaru on. Subaru always refused because it was too exhausting for him to go travel, but upon looking at the photo album, he realized that his mother had intended to take him on a trip that had everything to do with the things he enjoyed like the authors he likes and the novels he reads. At the time, Subaru’s mother never communicated to him her intentions, and now that Subaru has found out, it’s too late.

I think this is interesting as I’m sure many people relate. Parents have the best of intentions a lot of time, but those are lost when their kids find their parents overbearing or annoying. The relationships between parents and children is so complicated, but after all these years, I feel like I sort of understand and feel the melancholy that Subaru feels. Maybe we all can.

Although Watashi ni Tenshi ga Maiorita! intertwines different brief stories, we didn't have to wait too long to enjoy one of the best moments of this week's episode. It all started with a harmless school assignment, in which several groups had to create a thematic board game. Sounds fun, right? Even though Hinata, Noa, and Hana had no idea what to base their game on, in the end, an obvious idea came to their heads: why not create a game inspired by their biggest role-model? Ok, it's not just a game but a "rehab game", conceived with the sole goal of encouraging Miyako and helping her with her shyness problem. How cute! Oh, but we're talking about WataTen here, so there's always more than meets the eye.

When the girls' showed Miyako the game, it was pretty clear this could be counterproductive. I mean, what would you think about a game where you have to overcome your fears and smile or high five people? Well, at least it doesn’t involve total strangers but her little sister and friends. Sure, Miyako felt kinda ashamed for a second... until she realized it was a great opportunity to interact with Hana-chan: our little angel rolls the dice and there it is, Miyako now has to hug her! Too bad Mya-nee's intentions were not reciprocated (as you could imagine), and that's when Hana slaps her in the face! If you haven’t already, please go watch this scene because the whole sequence is as funny as cute, and Miyako's punchline makes it all even better. I guess some consolation prizes are good too?
