Oh. Now We Wanna Get ~Quality~

Nagareboshi

This episode of Fate/Apocrypha is what I have been waiting for: 34123412312 storylines all colliding while the main story is going on. We see Berserker of Red turning on his allies via brainwashing from the Caster of Black, Rider of Red going up against Archer of Black, Assassin of Red OWNING Rider of Black and what is a really cool scene between Frankenstein aka Berserker of Black and Caster of Red now that he has decided to get the lead out.

We see into the tortured past of Frankenstein which feels sad in that she can feel emotions, she just feels has issues controlling her anger as seen by her attacks. However, when Caster of Red seals her in his magical literary attack, Frankenstein is embraced by the man she wanted to love her. Till she snaps and murders him. However he’s not real and this is just supposed to be a psychological attack. It only happens for a bit, but you watch the quality go from ufotable to high school art class real fast. You would think that ufotable would produce unclockable quality considering that this is Fate and Fate fans take adaptations very seriously but hey I guess even the best are starting to feel the reverberations of a weakening industry. Overall though, the episode was great. Here is to more and more and more fighting!

Maybe I should give them a loan? I have the ¥¥¥.

Advance Forth the Relationship!

Jenangelx3

This week’s hot moment for me comes from Tsurezure Children. While I cannot name an exact moment that I loved this week, it has to be the theme of this week’s episode as a whole! Why? Because Tsurezure Children really works off of relationship themes than a single storyline. So we have all the storylines take on this idea and this week, it’s about advancing the relationship. Yes, each one of our favorite couples tries to do something cute and advance their really slow moving relationships. This happens too in Aho Girl, but it is not quite so cute so much as it is funny.

You have to love that these slow moving Japanese high school/middle school? relationships are being advanced in their own awkward ways. Does the girl take the lead? Does the boy? Is it just a kiss? Holding hands? Maybe more? It is funny at my age because relationships are not so slow moving or as seemingly innocent and painfully awkward as it is in anime/manga. Still, I love it and like to believe that these types of cute but awkward adolescent relationships still exist somewhere. You just have to love it, no?

Aha!! They are getting so lovey dovey now.

Two princesses, two pocket pickers

Rod Locksley

Remember that episode of Princess Principal where we met Dorothy’s father and a few tears fell down our cheeks? Well, that’s nothing compared to this last episode! A lot of us already knew about Ange being the princess and Charlotte taking her place some years ago, and it was hinted a couple times in previous episodes, but man this was the best way to explain what’s really going on. The story about the princess and the pocket picker was a very good reference for showing how the little girl we met could do better in life if she had better luck in life, but knowing how hard it was for both Ange and Charlotte to live a life as someone else… that’s not only clever but philosophically sad. A princess life is not always funny or enjoyable, and being part of the royalty is harder than we can imagine… and hey, nobody wants to be the poor girl stealing to fill her stomach, but this is another example of “too much of something is always bad”.

As we saw this week with Princess Principal’s episode 8, this show is not about spies anymore but more about women living in a world where danger has many forms. As for me, I guess I’m enjoying it a lot more now, even when there’s a lot of things yet to resolve. And yes, ending an episode with a “music scene” is nothing new, but this is the second time they get it perfectly. Call them princesses, spies or whatever you want; those girls playing the piano are too cute to be true!
