After the dry spell that was summer, save for a few shows, it's great to have a lineup to look forward to.

Even though there are not many ecchi shows, I am still happy to see all of the action and thriller shows abound.

Among all of the various anime that I enjoy, for some unknown reason, I really love shows like Imouto Sae Ireba Ii. The art is shifty at best, the story is absolute garbage, and above all else, you have a borderline DQN otaku character. Unlike with Ero Manga Sensei where I liked the main characters, Itsuki Hashima is a total cringefest. Everything he says from the way he reacts to the way he deduces answers makes me cringe. I guess this is for me the same as what a lot of people find cringey about male idol anime but still manage to watch them. There are a lot of fast jokes that end with the logo showing, so this season must be one of our favorite mediums: jokes, jokes, jokes!

Anyway, we meet Itsuki in the first episode who is ALL ABOUT DEM IMOUTOS. If it’s not a little sister, then why bother in his logic. We get introduced to his new story which is then subsequently rejected by his editor for being trash. Then of course, this imouto-crazed individual helps us meet all of his friends and acquaintances. We meet Chihiro, his younger brother who looks suspiciously female, Nayuta, the pervert who wants nothing but to have sex with Itsuki, Haruto, who is supposedly a manwhore, but is actually just a good, hardworking person, and Miyako, a university student who is a bit modest. They are all fun and together, they make the show cohesive.

Just pass Nayuta on to me. I know what to do with her type.

Game Brought to Life

So Code: Realize~Guardian of Rebirth~ comes to us in Code Realize: Sousei no Himegimi and I must say, after playing the otome game 4-5 times (to get my desired ending of course), the new anime is very similar to its visual novel equivalent. That’s what I want to discuss most since I found the story to be truly interesting in Code: Realize~Guardian of Rebirth~. I love that the original seiyuu from the game came back for this reverse harem anime, although I suppose they were really famous in the reverse harem/otome community anyway.

From the start, there are a few touches that are slightly different from the original source material but the grander scheme of things is basically the same. I like that Cardia has a voice compared to the game.
Of course, I do want to mention that the hot moment of the week has to be Cardia’s burning through the dog’s snout, which was also included in the game. I was horrified during the game’s scene and to see it play out on my computer was horrific as well. I didn’t feel as sad since they didn’t include the poor dog’s pained scream but it wasn’t my favorite moment. HOWEVER, I did feel the need to include it as an emotionally moving scene for myself.

OMG Code Realize is finally an anime and a quality reverse harem at that!

And Yet Another Phase/Transformation for Goku!

I know, I know… everyone has been talking about the new phase of Goku, but even with a few new series starting this season, I couldn't resist the urge to pick Dragon Ball Super again as my hot moment of the anime week. So here we are, with a 1 hour long episode following last weekend’s gap, and what an event! Goku finally facing Jiren, this stupidly powerful guy that barely moves and who many see as the future champion of the Tournament of Power. And did they live up to the hype? Well, kind of. Even in his Blue form, Goku looks like no match for this Pride Trooper, so the genkidama was something like Goku’s last resort. Something to mention here is that I loved Freeza’s line, something along the lines of “this brings back bad memories”, but even more interesting is the fact of Vegeta refusing to share his ki even when Freeza himself is helping Goku. Weird, huh? Anyways, the aftermath of the genkidama is Goku dying with his own attack, only to absorb the power of the genkidama and revive in a new form that meets the power of the gods. Deus ex machina for the win! The good old Toriyama in all it’s glory. For what it’s worth, this new phase is only making Jiren to show his true power, and we’re far from seeing the end. Will Vegeta be able to adopt this new godly thing too? I can see him asking for a full genkidama to his face, just to become as powerful as Kakarotto.

Sooo cheesy, but I’m not even mad…
