[Thirsty Thursday] Top 10 Bishoujo in Anime

Bishoujo (beautiful woman) anime characters are always a treat. They can be found in any genre, such as romance, ecchi, sci-fi and even horror. We know beauty is subjective, so we’ve chosen the following ladies based on their looks and personality. Think of it as a beauty pageant, but without all the glitter. With all that said, let’s get started.

10. Kaga Koko from Golden Time

  • Episodes: 24
  • Aired: Oct 2013 to Mar 2014

Banri Tada is a college student, studying law in Tokyo. Sadly, Banri is a year behind everyone else, due to his amnesia. Starting clean in Tokyo, Banri runs into some very interesting people, to say the least. This includes an angry punk rocker, the party-hungry tea ceremony club, and a stalker. Even stranger? Banri ends up falling in love with the stalker. Too bad the stalker loves someone else.

Kaga Koko is a character no one can ignore. She makes herself known to everyone, by making a loud entrance every time she’s on screen. Koko is the daughter of a wealthy man, so she’s always seen in high fashion dresses. Koko looks great in everything she wears, making viewers want to take a screenshot of all her outfits. Koko is confident, and knows what she wants. How can anyone turn away a woman like that?

9. Rin Tohsaka from Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works

  • Episodes: 24
  • Aired: Oct 2014 to Jun 2015

Every so often, the Holy Grail War takes place. A war in which seven mages fight using their servant in order to gain a wish. Shirou Emiya accidentally enters the war and has no clue what he’s doing. Shirou better think fast, because this war is actually a battle royale.

Rin Tohsaka is one of the few tsundere characters done right. There’s not too much tsun, so Rin doesn’t come off as mean. And there’s not too much dere, so Rin doesn’t come off as a moe blob. Rin Tohsaka’s tsundere tendencies are justified in her circumstances, for she is constantly pestered by the dumbfounded Shirou. Rin is a highly skilled mage, who is pretty much talented at everything she does. Rin is smart, beautiful, and combat ready. A bonus is that Rin probably has the finest legs in all of anime. Seriously, have you seen her in thigh high socks?

8. Chitoge Kirisaki from Nisekoi

  • Episodes: 20
  • Aired: Jan 2014 to May 2014

Raku Ichijou has a very odd life. He’s the heir to a yakuza family, but wants to be a cook. Raku is also forced to have a fake relationship with a mobster’s daughter, so the two syndicates will stop killing each other. This is a real thorn in Raku’s side, as he has crush on one of his classmates. Plus, Raku made a promise when he was a kid to marry a girl who has the key to his locket. But, where is she now? This is way too much for a 15 year old to handle.

Straight off the bat with her design, Chitoge stands out from everyone in Nisekoi. Which is saying a lot, as Raku’s harem is pretty top tier. But we digress. Chitoge has long golden locks, big bright blue eyes, a perfectly proportionate figure, and never leaves her house without her signature red ribbon. Unlike Rin Tohsaka, Chitoge is a little more tsun than dere. We’ll let it slide, as Chitoge’s blushy faces are to die for! Chitoge is also excellent at everything she does. And if someone picks a fight with her, she’s not afraid to punch (or in this case kick) back.

7. Kurisu Makise from Steins;Gate

  • Episodes: 24
  • Aired: Apr 2011 to Sept 2011

Okabe is a crazy mad scientist, inventing futuristic gadgets, and making scientific breakthroughs...at least in his mind. In actuality, Okabe and his friends work at an apartment in Akihabara, trying to invent the next big thing. One day, Okabe’s invention works, but leads to some strange events. The phone microwave can send emails back in time, but these emails drastically change history. A unique must-watch sci-fi thriller, Steins;Gate is a non-stop race against time.

What makes a woman beautiful? Is it huge oppai and thick thighs? Or is it something more? Kurisu, although beautiful physically, shines with her personality. Kurisu is extremely intelligent and loyal to her friends. At 18, Kurisu was able to surpass her father, a world renowned scientist, and even hold lectures at universities. No matter what timeline Okabe is in, Kurisu is able to understand his situation and help out in anyway she can. No matter what, you can always put your faith in Kurisu.

6. Rem from Re:Zero: Starting Life In Another World (Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu)

  • Episodes: 25
  • Aired: Apr 2016 to Sept 2016

Subaru left his local convenience store and suddenly teleported to a pseudo fantasy world. How did this happen? Why is he here? Ignoring those questions, Subaru explores this world and runs into Emilia, a half elf. Subaru helps Emilia find her pendant, but winds up getting himself killed. But wait, if Subaru died, then how did he start over from zero?

Rem is the world-renowned best girl of 2016. When we first met Rem, she hated herself, and lacked any sort of emotion. But after Subaru helped Rem smile, she dedicated her life to him. In episode 18, Subaru wanted to run away, and escape this world of tragedy, Rem was tempted at first, but declined. Rem would love to marry Subaru, cook for him, and start a family. But the reason why Rem loves Subaru is for his bravery. Find a woman who can set you on the right path like Rem.

5. Saeko Busujima from Highschool of the Dead

  • Episodes: 12
  • Aired: Jul 2010 to Sept 2010

It was a day like any other. At least it should’ve been. One afternoon, a zombie apocalypse breaks out in Tokyo. Takashi has to think fast, and figure out a way to kill zombies, save his friends, and gather new members for their team. With the help of a voluptuous teacher, a know-it-all tsundere, a gun enthusiast, an aikido student, and an insane fighter, Takashi might just make it out alive. Only question is; where’s the nearest safe haven, if there is one?

Are you into psychotic badass beauties? Then Saeko Busujima is probably in the top 5 of your waifu list. We all love Saeko for being an incredibly skilled fighter. But when it’s revealed that she actually gets off on killing, we felll in love with her even more! Saeko isn’t completely insane, though. Saeko will order the rest of members to back her up, and won’t let a single one of them get hurt. And Saeko is not afraid to show off her body. If a piece of clothing tears off, who cares? She’ll go out and fight in nothing but an apron if she has too.

4. Rea Sanka from Sankarea

  • Episodes: 12
  • Aired: Apr 2012 to Jun 2012

We all have our strange fetishes, but Chihiro’s is certainly out there. Ever since he was a little kid, Chihiro’s been obsessed with zombies. So much so, that he only wants a zombie girlfriend. When his cat dies, Chihiro develops a potion to revive his cat, but no dice. However, when Rea Sanka drinks the potion, she is revived after falling off a cliff. With Rea starting over as a zombie, maybe Chihiro can finally get his dream girl.

Rea Sanka is simply stunning. Her long jet black hair gives off the “traditional Japanese beauty” vibe. Plus her blue eyes (red when she’s a zombie), and her soothing voice, make Rea Sanka irresistible. We all felt bad for Rea when we found out her creepy past with her father. But now we’re happy to see Rea enjoying her new life.

3. Esdeath from Akame ga Kill!

  • Episodes: 24
  • Aired: Jul 2014 to Dec 2014

Tatsumi enters the capitol to join the army and send money back to his poor village. Being rejected immediately, Tatsumi goes through a chain of unfortunate events. He gets robbed, taken in by a nice rich girl, only to kill her when he finds out the girl likes to torture the homeless. Tatsumi is then adopted into Night Raid, a rebel group killing the evildoers of society. Their end goal: kill the emperor.

The only villain on our list, Esdeath is arguably the best character in Akame ga Kill. Esdeath gets the most characterization, so we understand the reasons behind her sadistic killings, and even sympathize with her. And Esdeath isn’t rotten to the core either. Like any other woman, Esdeath yearns for love, and takes quite a liking to Tatsumi. It’s adorable seeing the capitol’s greatest general suddenly become an embarrassed love-sick puppy.

Physique-wise, Esdeath has a rockin' body with large oppai and wide hips. Attached to those hips are a fine rump, stellar thighs, and long legs. Thank goodness Esdeath likes thigh high boots and short skirts. Esdeath is also a top tier general, and a masterful swordswoman. To top it all off, Esdeath even has ice powers. Man, what a woman.

2. Faye Valentine from Cowboy Bebop

  • Episodes: 26
  • Aired: Apr 1998 to Apr 1999

It’s 2071, and humanity has colonized all across the universe. A ragtag crew of bounty hunters band together to...uh...do something. They’re skilled gunslingers, but somehow they manage to miss every bounty. This causes them to go on for days without food. Perhaps they’re distracted, as each character has their own dark past. But the more they run away from their pasts, the closer it catches up to them.

If you’ve never heard of or even seen Faye Valentine, then you’ve been missing out on anime’s classic bombshell. Faye isn’t the brightest woman out there, but what she lacks in brains, she makes up for with her skills. Even though Faye gets into all sorts of pinches, she can certainly fight on her own. Faye can fly her own spaceship and even dual wield machine guns. Faye also sports some sheer thigh high socks, bright yellow booty shorts attached to what appears to be black suspenders (could be a body garter), and a yellow crop top. The icing on the cake is Faye’s no nonsense attitude.

1. Rias Gremory from High School DxD

  • Episodes: 12
  • Aired: Jan 2012 to Mar 2012

Issei is your average boob enthusiast. But there’s no way a pervert could ever get a date with a super hot girl, right? Somehow, Issei was able to do just that. Only to get murdered by his date in the process. Being reincarnated as a devil by Rias Gremory, Issei now joins her team and defeats any sort of dangerous phenomenon. All while being surrounded by DDD-cupped bodacious devils.

Rias Gremory wears the crown on our list. With her shiny long crimson red hair and incredibly large perky breasts, there’s no way Rias couldn’t be at number one. Rias is a born leader. Able to organize a battle in which her team will come out victorious is quite a feat for a high school girl.
She is also the daughter of one of the three lead devil families, making her extremely powerful. Rias can be a sweetheart, a tease, and battle-ready at anytime. Plus, we gotta thank Rias for her choice in undergarments. A black lace bra and thong? Rias, you are too kind.

Final Thoughts

Without a doubt in our minds, we are sure we’ve missed quite a few beautiful waifus. So let us know in the comments who are some of your favorite bishoujo characters. And what did you think of our list? Do you agree or disagree? Till next time!
