Top 5 Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai (We Never Learn) Scenes

The Spring 2019 season had no shortage of fantastic anime. One of the best shows of the season was Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai with its romantic harem comedy. With its hilarious story and amazing characters, there were so many moments that made us fall in love with this anime. Today we are going to be looking at some of the best moments in this show as we take a look at the top five scenes in Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai. Each scene will feature one of the many aspects that make Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai such a wonderful anime. Let's get started.

5. Swimming Lessons (Episode 2)

With her club activities on the line, Uruka turns to Nariyuki to help her study her English vocabulary. Along with Rizu and Fumino, the group tries their hardest to help Uruka learn, but they are unable to make any progress. That is until Nariyuki tries having her study by putting her love of swimming to use. Thanks to the unusual study method, Uruka is able to learn the vocab and pass her test. This may seem like a fairly inconsequential scene, but this scene is really great. This is the first time we get a glimpse of how far Nariyuki is willing to go to help the girls learn. We get a bit of this in the first episode, however, this is the first moment where he pushes the boundaries of his tutoring and we get to learn a lot about all of the main characters through this series of events.

4. Just an Accident (Episode 6)

Kirisu grills Nariyuki about his accidental kiss with Rizu during the class trip. While she is getting ready to punish him, the girls overhear the situation and they each run in one at a time trying to help Nariyuki, but they only end up causing more misunderstandings as they reveal more of the chance indecent encounters they have had with Nairyuki. Kirisu decides to punish Nairyuki after seeing how much each of the girls cares for him. This scene is great for a couple of reasons. First off, it is just really funny seeing Rizu, Funimo, and Uruka run in and try to help Nariyuki only to make things worse. While the comedy is great, what really makes the scene great is what we get after the comedy. This is the first scene where we get to learn more about Kirisu and how, despite the first five episodes building her up to be cold and somewhat rude, she is actually really caring and wants what is best for the girls.

3. Slumber Party (Episode 13)

Rizu invites Sekijo over to her house to spend the night. When Sekijo arrives, the slumber party quickly turns into a study session as Fumino, Rizu, and Uruka barrage her with a series of questions. Sekijo is overwhelmed by the number of questions and can't help but wonder how Nariyuki is able to constantly deal with all of it. This scene is great mostly because it is funny and it is nice seeing Sekijo's efforts to befriend Rizu pay off even if she is getting used. The scene also does a great job reminding us just what Nariyuki has been putting up with and why so many tutors had failed before him.

2. Under the Stars (Episode 13)

After a day of hanging out at the festival, Fumino and Nariyuki end up at a hotel together because they missed the last train home. The pair struggles to get comfortable sleeping in the same room together, but once they see the stars they are able to relax as Fumino reveals more about her past and why she wants to get into the sciences. This is just about the last scene in episode 13 and it may just be the most impactful moment of the series. Leading up to this, Nariyuki had hung out with every other girl he knew during the festival, and Fumino was even willing to go off by herself in order to let Uruka get some alone time with Nariyuki. Ultimately, both Nariyuki and Fumino end up missing the train because of their kind and caring natures causing them to get to spend some time together. The scene at the hotel is just a great moment for Fumino's character and we get to learn so much about her, as the series brings the first season to a close and perfectly sets itself up for the second season.

1. Midterms (Episode 3)

Nariyuki is told the girls need to receive average or higher grades on their midterms or else he will be replaced. After overhearing this info, Fumino and Rizu work harder in order to not lose another tutor. The girls didn't let anything get in their way, putting in extra study sessions and even overcoming sickness to pass the midterms and keep Nairyuki as their tutor. What makes this scene great is the impact it has on the series and how much we get to learn about Fumino and Rizu. In such a short time, Nariyuki was able to bond with Fumino and Rizu like nobody had before, making them both want to fight to keep him around.
