Top 5 Fall 2022 Anime To Watch Out For [Best Recommendations]

The Fall 2022 anime season is upon us, fellow anime watchers, and it’s loaded with many exciting series. With anticipated new adaptations, originals, and returning favourites, this coming batch of shows will be a feast for every type of anime fan. That said, we here at Honey's Anime put our heads together to create a list of what to keep an eye on, when the lineups drop. Here's our top 5:

5. Fumetsu no Anata e 2nd Season (To Your Eternity Season 2)

The first season of To Your Eternity was an undeniable masterpiece. A heart-wrenching, captivating story that follows the events of “It”, an unknown entity in the form of an Orb capable of changing forms from beings whose reflections it captures in an attempt to collect data. You get to watch the character grow and learn about the world and try to survive whatever life throws… All the while, being watched over by the unknown entity that created it: The Beholder.

Coming from the same author that made A Silent Voice, there was a lot of hype and by the first episode, it did not disappoint. The backgrounds and visuals are top-notch while the soundtrack does a great job of drawing you into the world and truly enhances every moment on the screen.

The trailer for season 2 was very impressive, featuring highly stylized visuals of what to expect from the story and more. This will be an anime to mark down and enjoy.

4. Boku no Hero Academia 6th Season (My Hero Academia Season 6)

Season 5 of the popular shounen anime ended with mostly mixed reviews. Some liked it, some didn't, and for good reason: the pacing was uneven, resulting in the less engaging and important class vs class arc receiving more time and exposure while the "My Villain Academia" arc, on the other hand, felt rushed. That being said, the music that accompanied the show was fantastic, and it is one of the only aspects of Boku No Hero Academia Season 5 that worked well. Every new track that was composed for all of the arcs was a genuine delight to experience.

Season 6 of My Hero Academia offers us a better prospect as Izuku is getting ready to face his most intense battle yet. And now, according to a new report, the season six premiere will not include the usual recap episode. The announcement comes following a festival in Japan where some fans in attendance were able to watch the premiere and says it starts with a bang, diving right into the heart of the plot. But we'll have to wait and see if we get official confirmation.

3. Mob Psycho 100 III

It’s been a while since Mob Psycho 100 fans caught up with Mob and Reigen, but the anime is returning during the fall 2022 season. It received a lot of attention during this year’s Crunchyroll Expo, where attendees were able to watch the premiere and learn more about the coming episodes. But what do we know about the anime so far?

The story follows Shigeo Kageyama (a.k.a."Mob"), an average middle school-aged boy with psychic abilities. To keep from losing control of this power and consequently hurting people around him, he constantly lives a life under an emotional shackle and decides to work as an assistant to con-man Reigen Arataka, a self-proclaimed spirit medium, to help learn how to control his abilities. But with his suppressed emotions building up inside Mob little by little, his power threatens to break through its limits as he eventually encounters other espers like him.

Mob Psycho 100 is a very interesting anime, to say the least. The first two seasons transcend the borders of shonen through an approach that has reinvigorated the whole genre. Visually stunning animation, wonderful characters, a fantastic story, and a healthy dash of comedy. Everything you want in an anime and a personal favourite of mine by a long shot.

2. Bleach: Sennen Kessen-hen (Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War)

More than a decade since the end of Bleach’s original anime adaptation, studio Pierrot has returned to produce the Thousand Year Blood War arc (Sennen Kessen-hen), an action-packed conclusion of Tite Kubo’s manga. But for those just discovering this masterpiece for the first time, what is Bleach?

The story follows Ichigo Kurosaki, a 15-year-old boy that can see ghosts. When shinigami Rukia Kuchiki gives him her powers in a desperate life-and-death situation against a Hollow—monsters with a taste for human souls—Ichigo becomes embroiled in the Soul Society’s affairs, an afterlife modelled after feudal Japan.

Directed by Tomohisa Taguchi (Akudama Drive, Persona 4: The Golden Animation), Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War will see Ichigo Kurosaki and his Soul Reaper allies fight against the Quincy empire of Wandenreich in an all-out battle to decide the fate of all existence. Several members of the original production team have returned for this new season, including character designer Masashi Kudo and composer Shiro Sagisu so we can expect a knockout of a finale come October.

1. Chainsaw Man

Chainsaw Man is an action-horror anime based on Tatsuki Fujimoto's critically acclaimed manga. It follows Denji, a teenager forced to hunt Devils, powerful supernatural monsters manifested from humanity's collective fears and traumas, to repay his father's yakuza debt. After being betrayed and abandoned, Denji merges with his pet Chainsaw Devil Pochita to form Chainsaw Man, a powerful Devil-human combination with the ability to conjure chainsaws from his body. After that, Makima recruited him into the Public Safety Devil Hunters.

Having sold over 5.2 million copies worldwide in 2021 (making it the 7th best-selling manga of the year), Chainsaw Man is unquestionably one of the most anticipated anime releases of 2022. With a motherload of top professionals such as Director Ryu Nakayama (Jujutsu Kaisen), action animation director Tatsuya Yoshihara, and a score of others behind the helm of MAPPA's adaptation, Chainsaw Man is easily shaping up to be the best anime of this fall season
