[Thirsty Thursday] Top 5 Kill la Kill Ecchi Scenes

When you think of 'ecchi', you probably think of sexually themed anime with lots of skin, panty shots, innuendos, and compromising situations. The last thing that comes to mind is probably a fast-paced action anime, complete with transformations and overpowered costumes. Usually, anime fans have to choose between one or the other, but Kill la Kill, however, asks the age old question, "Porque no los dos?"

Kill la Kill manages to be an appeal to both fan bases without alienating the other. It manages to do this by being an action at its core, yet having the ecchi be essential to its story and action. The majority of the ecchi in the show is very subtle, but that doesn't take away from quality or frequency of it. Here are the top 5 ecchi scenes in Kill la Kill.

5. Mama Mankanshoku ‘Miring Mikisugi’ (Ep 19)

Like we said, most of the ecchi scenes in Kill la Kill are very subtle, and this one's no exception. Throughout the series, Ryuuko and Mako's teacher, Aikurou Mikisugi's clothes had a strange habit of slowly drifting off of his body. It is eventually explained that his desire to rid himself of his garments stems from his association to Nudist Beach, a group whose aim was to thwart Earth's subjugation of Earth by the Life Fibers. As the name suggests, members of Nudist Beach, don't wear much clothing, especially after becoming a "naked Nudist."

Sukuyo Mankanshoku is Mako's loving and seemingly innocent mother. During the series, she alludes to the fact that she wasn't always the innocent housewife that she appears to be.

Sukuyo Mankanshoku finally meets Aikurou after he sheds his cover as the quiet homeroom teacher and his clothes with it. Sukuyo has been shown to tolerate, but not promote, her son, husband, and dog's perverted ways. Yet, when faced with Mikisugi in all his naked glory, she cannot seem to look away from his shiny parts.

4. Nui Harime and Ragyo Kiryuuin Dress Ryuuko in Junketsu (Ep 21)

Do you remember those nights you and your siblings would cuddle up next to your mother? The love and warmth provided by being near your loved ones. Yea... This scene is nothing like that. Episode 21 starts out with Ryuuko, Nui Harime, and Ragyo in the nude lying together in a bed discussing the immense pleasure that comes with wearing Junketsu.

Throughout the scene, Nui and Ragyo constantly appear in suggestive positions, making it very clear that, although they have stripped Ryuuko to dress her in Junketsu, that wasn't their only desire. They planned to stitch Junketsu to Ryuuko, but that doesn't explain why they've tied her up either. Ragyo has a habit of caressing the lady parts of Satsuki, and that habit continues here, which ups the ecchi factor due to the incestual nature of it.

3. Satsuki's Ritual Purification (Ep 16)

Speaking of Ragyo's incestual actions...

Impressed with the Tri-City Schools Raid and Satsuki's skill with Junketsu, Ragyo invites her daughter back to the Kiryuuin Manor's Grand Bath. According to Ragyo, the water in the bath boosts Life Fiber harmonization, which makes the ritual purification all the more questionable.

The scene begins with Ragyo entering the bath and commenting on Satsuki's lovely skin. After that things get ecchi very quickly. Ragyo begins caressing Satsuki, making sure to take care of all the hard-to-reach spots. The scene features Satsuki writhing and moaning in pleasure as Ragyo makes her way down Satsuki's body before finishing off the ritual by unlocking all of Satsuki's chakras. The water already boosts harmonization, so it seems like the Ritual Purification is really just a sensual massage. Well... there are definitely worse rituals out there.

2. Takarada vs Sanageyama (Ep 15)

Kaneo Takarada is the heir to the Takarada Conglomerate. He's so rich and powerful that he has his own currency with his face on it, which he uses as ammunition and to buy the hearts of the citizens of Osaka. Uzu Sanageyama is the cocky, yet laid-back kendo master of the Elite Four. After losing to Ryuuko, he sacrificed his eyes to prove his resolve and dedication to Satsuki, gaining additional combat strength in the process. There doesn't seem to be any potential for ecchi in this fight...

Well, for the most part, you'd be right. The two engage in a fairly standard fight until Takarada reveals that he can immobilize his opponent with a special paste that he secretes from a hole in the back of his crab mecha. Of course, this doesn't stop a master swordsman like Sanageyama, who finds his way behind Takarada and his exposed hole, where his weak point just happens to be.

Sanageyama then starts driving his wooden katana into the hole repeatedly. And while Takarada's screams are those of pain, there's also a hint of pleasure that can be heard and seen in his expression. And even though he begs Sanageyama not to attack his exposed area, his aggressive pointing betrays his words. Sanageyama drives his katana even deeper than his other attacks, leaving Takarada with the ultimate sensation of bliss. Are we sure this is a fight we're still talking about?

1. Ryuuko vs Gamagoori (Ep 9)

Okay, so where do we start with this one? There's just so much that goes on in this scene. It starts off very slow, extremely slow actually. In the episode prior, Ryuuko became privy to Gamagoori's Goku Uniforms power: Gamagoori is bound in cloth and gathers energy from his opponents' attacks until, finally, all of the gathered energy bursts forth in a strong attack. Complete with a mouth gag, Gamagoori's Goku Uniform is just one big tribute to bondage and masochism.

Knowing this Ryuuko, engages in a staredown with Gamagoori, not wanting to attack him. It's here that things get a bit more ecchi. Realizing that Ryuuko would not be one to attack him, he reveals his secret technique where he beats himself with whips to achieve his final release of energy. For anyone that think his self-flagellation was a religious action, he declares "I punish and punish and punish myself, and bring myself to climax," clearing any confusion there.

This scene is a battle between Ryuuko and Gamagoori but, unfortunately for Ryuuko, she spends the entire fight getting spanked and whipped. In a last ditch effort, Ryuuko transforms back into her sailor uniform and has Senketsu grab onto one of Gamagoori's whips, the only way she can: by biting onto it (providing great, yet subtle, imagery of fellatio). Falling for the trap, Gamagoori brings her close and squeezes her defenseless body against his, unbeknownst to him, sealing his defeat.

Just for the record, this fight contains bondage, auto-masochism, spanking, ecstatic release, fellatio imagery and aggressive cuddling.

Talk about ecchi!

This feels like I'm writing a dating profile... Am I pretty enough? In addition to watching anime I like playing video games, mostly RPGs and indies. I lose a lot of Otaku street cred for the games and shows on my backlog (TTGL & FFVII for example #FeelsBadMan). I run a podcast with my friends where we talk about video games and anime. Nice to meet you... or something.
