Why You Should Watch Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru: Yuusha no Shou

1. A Darker Side of a Magical Girl Story

When we imagine a magical girl series, we expect to see adorable girls throwing themselves into the harshest battles and arising out of the scene with minimal damage. That is the case for many episodes of Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru: Yuusha no Shou. Over time, the girls come to learn the secrets, the evil cycle of being a chosen magical, but nonetheless, the girls endure in order to keep the world safe.

In one of the episodes, Fuu states that their Hero duties will cease once all 12 Vertex are eliminated. Unfortunately, this task can only be handled by the Heroes, as they contain within them an energy called Mankai. By repeatedly using Mankai, the Heroes are able to amplify their power. So in order to defeat the Vertex completely, all of the girls must use their Mankai, one after the other. However, using Mankai comes at a severe price, as abnormalities have surfaced from the bodies of club members. The girls have so much to protect; their dreams and their daily lives, but they are repeatedly battling and sacrificing their bodily functions. Ultimately, the girls have had enough and they just want it to be over.

2. Emphasis on Values, Bonds, and Friendships in a Lifetime

Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru: Yuusha no Shou demonstrates that no task is too large for our girls to handle, unveiling the normality of magic and fighting in a girl’s everyday schedule. Identical to the other series in the franchise, Fuu, Itsuki, Karin, Nogi, Togo, and Yuuna have the ultimate reason to continue their fight to protect Shinjyu-sama: Christmas celebrations, entrance exams, festivals, hobbies, and so much more. What joy is there to live if there are no reasons or moments to live for. Again, the girls have much to treasure, and in each episode, the message of cherishing memories is mentioned after every critical moment and battle.

3. Awesome Animation!

A fantastic feature of Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru: Yuusha no Shou is its amazing animation. The range and use of colors are incredibly captivating and spark light in this somewhat dark magical girl anime. Noticeable differences are present when the girls shift from the alternate dimension back into reality, putting a spotlight on the importance of preserving Shinjyu-sama in their lives. As the animation portrays the time and atmosphere perfectly, our main characters are tested both physically and emotionally on how to save their closest friends and the world. The universe these young girls know is on the brink of destruction, but with eyes wide open, Fuu, Itsuki, Karin, Nogi, Togo, and Yuuna aren’t going to let the world fall into darkness so easily.

Additionally, the style of magic utilized in Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru: Yuusha no Shou is creative and current, drawing elements that viewers can understand and relate to. The anime contains a lot of detail within the transformation and action sequences. Fuu, Itsuki, Karin, Nogi, Togo, and Yuuna each provide a special skill and color scheme to the team. Moreover, all of this power is encapsulated in their smartphones, wishing that our iPhones or Androids did something like this!

Why You Should Skip Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru: Yuusha no Shou

1. A Smaller Piece Of The Pie

The Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru franchise emerged onto the scene in 2014. The Washio Sumi no Shou chapter made its appearance three years after the fact in 2017, highlighting events that occurred two years prior. The Yuusha no Shou series is the sequel to “YuYuYu”, leading us into the story two years later. As such, it is important to note that these six episodes are only a small portion of a bigger story. With that being said, after watching Yuuki Yunna wa Yuusha de Aru: Yuusha no Shou, you’ll definitely want to binge on “YuYuYu” and “WaSuYu” just to be fully caught up on everything and not miss out on small details.

2. Can You Say That Again, Slowly?

Even though Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru: Yuusha no Shou touches on a lot of slice of life, fantasy, magical, and dramatic elements, there seems to be a bit of confusion when it comes to the layout of Shinjyu-sama’s world, essentially the main course of the meal. Although we enjoy as many details as can be supplied, in this series, more of it led to obscurity in later episodes. It would have been awesome if the story went more in-depth with events such as Yuuna’s merging with Togo’s body, the markings Yuuna’s able to see, and ultimately, anything linked to Shinjyu-sama; but the overall fact exposes that with all the girls’ efforts and training, Shinjyu-sama is still dying, and therein lies the mystery.
