Synopsis
Legendary girls from across history return from the dead as zombies to save Saga Prefecture through their work as idols. It’s a new twist on the zombie genre!
One morning, Sakura Minamoto lost her life in a terrible accident. Ten years later...
She awakens in a western style house, and the mysterious idol producer Koutaro Tatsumi tells her to “join the legendary girls to save Saga.” As the idol group Fran Chouchou, the seven girls set out to save Saga Prefecture, which is in an extremely precarious position. Differences in age and era cause plenty of friction within the group, but the immortal idols rise to the challenge and defy conventional wisdom at every turn. Then, after their first successful solo performance at Karatsu City Furusato Hall Arpino during the last winter of the Heisei Era, their journey toward legendary status officially gets underway. The era is now Reiwa. Fran Chouchou set their sights on a sparkling future filled with hopes and dreams. This is their story.

Koutaro Tatsumi: Mamoru Miyano
The mysterious idol producer. Always seen wearing a black jacket and a red vest with a squid tentacle from Kojima Food Industries sticking out, his sunglasses never come off. Arrogant enough to ignore common sense, he is the very person who resurrected the “legendary” girls as zombies to perform as idols. His mission, dubbed the “Zombieland Saga Project,” is to save Saga Prefecture with zombie idols. Though, no one is entirely sure what his plans truly entail.
Sakura Minamoto: Kaede Hondo
Sakura, Zombie 1, has a charming polka-dot ribbon in her hair and was the first to be awakened. However, she doesn’t have any memories from when she was alive. Often at the mercy of the legendary zombies around her, it’s up to her to point out the insanity. On a side note, she speaks with the cute Karatsu accent.
Saki Nikaido: Asami Tano
Zombie 2 has a golden ponytail and sharp glare. She was the ringleader of “Dorami,” a biker gang that conquered Kyushu, in her past life. Saki is a proud delinquent with a habit of greeting people by asking “Ya wanna die?” However, anyone with guts is good in her book. She was obsessed with Tamagotchis in her former life, but unfortunately, they’ve all aged into Tama-geezers.
Ai Mizuno: Risa Taneda
Zombie 3, the idol with short black hair adorned with flowers. The stoic former leader of “Ion Frill,” the unit that was at the top of the charts during the 21-century Idol War, takes center position. While she’s no slouch when it comes to singing, dancing is where she really shines. Brimming with confidence, Ai isn’t afraid to give anyone a piece of her mind. She also has her suspicions about Koutaro’s plan. Plus, her flowers multiply when she’s in idol mode.
Junko Koshino: Maki Kawase
The fair-skinned, forlorn beauty, Zombie 4. She was the one who ignited the idol craze of the 1980s and captivated the world. Though quiet and reserved, her passion for being an idol burns bright. Junko is the best singer out of the seven, but dancing gives her fits. Tae seems to have a taste for her, so Junko is always on the run.
Yugiri: Rika Kinugawa
The dolled-up zombie with her long hair tied back, Yugiri is Zombie 5. Born into the Bakumatsu Era, the legendary courtesan had a front-row seat during the Meiji Restoration. Perfectly happy to march to the beat of her own drum, the fact that she was revived into a world 150 years after her death as a zombie doesn’t phase her in the slightest.
Lily Hoshikawa: Minami Tanaka
Lily is the one with twin ponytails and a star in her hair, Zombie 6. She was once a child prodigy who dominated the airwaves during primetime every night. Despite being the youngest, no stage is too big for her. Her happy-go-lucky experior can’t always hide her darker side. Her many roles as an actress in her former life have made her surprisingly knowledgeable.
Tae Yamada: Kotono Mitsuishi
The long, black haired Zombie 0. Tae is the only one out of the seven who isn’t fully conscious, and thus the most “zombie-like” of the group. Although she can only grunt, Tae seems to understand what the other members say to a certain extent. However, as instincts are her driving force, she can’t help but gnaw on Junko whenever she’s closeby.
