Juuni Taisen was something that was originally set for Summer 2017, but was quickly moved to Fall 2017. Probably a good move because Kakegurui and Boku no Hero Academia 2 would have overshadowed it. The series comes from the Monogatari series creator so there is a very intricate and detailed backstory to each character. Sadly though, when you get to see a backstory, thus far at least, the character dies at the end of the episode. Each has their own quirks and personalities and the theme so far is that appearances are deceiving. Juuni Taisen is running par for the course for a death game, but don’t let that shy you away from watching this great series. The only complaint is that the action scenes, while good, tend to be very short-lived. Rumors are that, at the very least, a second season is on the way, so there is that to anticipate.

Nezumi

Ushii

Ushii’s first battle was when he was five years old. Ever since his first battle, he kills everyone. Since that time too, he was already wanting be referred to as a genius. The inscription on his saber reads Gyuubouken. The saber itself is not anything particular in that it was a mass-produced item, however he takes good care of it when he uses it. He is thin, but he is actually a big eater. As a fighter, he does not partake in alcohol. Thus, he is knowledgeable about stores where you can eat by yourself.

Tora

Tora uses her nails to attack as pain is more intense than damage. If you took a survey of 'fighters you do not want to meet in battle', despite not being in many battles, she would probably rank first. Tora has a habit of keeping her nails looking stylish, but when she heads to battle, she drops this habit. On her days off, she tends to go shopping with her girlfriends, but it always ends in a drinking party.

Tatsumi (Older Brother)

Tatsumi is a fighter who competes together with his younger twin brother, but for the time being, as the older brother, he acts as the commanding officer. He resembles his twin brother perfectly from head to toe, and the only way to differentiate between the two is with their use of first person pronouns. He refers to himself as ‘ore-sama’. Tatsumi pairs up with his younger brother who has a flamethrower on his back called ‘Hitokage’. He has an icethrower that he carries on his back called ‘Yukionna’, and it is filled with liquid hydrogen. To be honest, when compared to Hitokage, he thinks that Yukionna is harder to use.

Tatsumi (Younger Brother)

The younger brother of the two Tatsumi’s, this young warrior fights alongside his brother in this battle. Both are extremely strong-willed fighters, and originally it was rare to see two fighters pair up together on the battle. However, these two brothers have teamed up as the dragon (tatsu) and snake (mi) to fight as a traditional pair of two. It is not even necessary to talk about their superiority. Tatsumi (younger) has a variety of reptiles that he is raising in his own home as pets, and he is secretly operating a rearing blog that, due to the field it is in, is incredibly popular.

Uuma

Even within the current generation of the Souma household and those of past, Uuma is a giant. known for being silent, if you omitted introductions, the only people who hear his voice are those close to him. (To digress, it is a wonderful voice) On the battlefield as well, he is widely-known for his violent silence that rather suits his strict style of fighting.

Hitsuji

Hitsuji used to be a weapons merchant, and as such, in the name of business, he has come and gone from the battlefield many times. Since he was being dragged countless times into the ravages of war, he conspicuously distinguished himself as a fighter. He was so good at it that for the first time ever, the Tsujiie family, his wife’s family, adopted him as their own. Recently, he has been obsessed with smartphone games that are rather unbecoming of his age. Hitsuji is frequently seen in the top ranking spot of a popular app and taking into account his worldwide fame there, even now in his old health, he is still known as a fighter.

Sharyu

The desserts that she makes are so delicious, that she unintentionally over eats.

Niwatori

Since she was a child, Niwatori was subjected to abuse that was gruesome beyond description to the point that she has no memories before she was 15 years-old. The weapon she carries in hand is not a trident, but rather a plow. There is no inscription, but she calls it Tosakazashi. When she feels that her stress levels are reaching their limits, she goes to hot springs. So, Niwatori is a bit happy when the battlefield is near the hot springs.

Dotsuku

Dotsuku is the type to not carry a weapon; rather he is the type to bite with his fangs. Dotsuku is feared and is called ‘Kyoukenbyou’ for his fangs that bite anything. In his private life, Dotsuku is obsessed with calligraphy, and in the beginning those around him were unable to understand him. Rather than be disheartened, he continued to write until he reached a point where anything he makes with his magnificent brush silences any opposing factions.

Inounoshishi

Inounoshishi is the heirress to a famous family that has a history for more than 300 years. Her two weapons that she fights with are the machine guns named Aishuu and Inochigoi. When it comes to her two machine guns though, she thinks of them as an extension of her own body. Currently, while she is trying to land a lover amongst the males of the twelve fighters, she is still searching for a lover beyond them.
