There are usually a few harem anime that make it our way from Japan every season, and Summer 2018 is no different. We love seeing the crazy situations that male protagonists get themselves into. We’ve seen main characters that have been transported to another world, transferred into an all-girls school, or even had a harem fall into their lap from outer space. Anything goes when harems are involved plot-wise.
This season things are exactly the same. One guy, many girls. Let’s see what shows lie in store, shall we?
2. Hyakuren no Haou to Seiyaku no Valkyria (The Master of Ragnarok & Blesser of Einherjar)
- What: Harem, Ecchi, Fantasy
- When: July 8th, 2018 - Ongoing
We may like to think that we’ve seen it all from harem anime, but The Master of Ragnarok might be a new spin on an old setup. Yuuto Suou managed to get himself sent to another world when he tried to test an urban legend with his smartphone at a local shrine. What lay in store was a fantasy world rife with war and magic. Fast forward two years and Suou has become something of a badass in this new world. He has a harem and even an army which he leads to conquer rival countries and defend his people. The only question remains is how will he ever get home?
Episode 1 When recently and it got the ball rolling fast. You usually see these types of shows starting off with a weak MC trying to get accustomed to his new environment, but Suou has already mastered his abilities as a ruler. Like isekai MCs from Re:Zero and In Another World with My Smartphone, he uses his phone to research methods to win. He seems to have a bit of trouble finding out how to deal with the ladies, however.
1. Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san (Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs)
- What: Comedy, Harem, Ecchi
- When: July 14th, 2018
Ghost stories are everywhere, but for Fuyuzora Kogarashi ghosts are a common part of everyday life. He’s been possessed by countless ghosts over the years making his life one big problem each moment to the next. Pushed to his wit's end, he’s forced to seek lodging at the Yuragi Inn, a cheap place to live due to its haunted reputation. Everything seems fine until he meets his new roommate, Yuuna, a clumsy ghost girl who just might become Kogarashi’s favorite paranormal encounter yet.
Based on a popular manga series, Yuragi-sou has drawn many comparisons to being the “spiritual” successor to To-Love-Ru. From one scene to the next, Kogarashi manages to find himself wedged between panties, fondling massive oppai and all sorts of other ecchi hijinx. It can’t be helped that people are looking forward to this one. It’s been a long while since we’ve seen the God of Fall Yuuki Rito at work.
2018 could be a big year for the harem genre having just come off the return of High School DxD Hero and more shows on the way. We’ll keep you posted on what’s in store. Let us know your thoughts on these shows and others in the comments. We’re dying to know what you think!
