SSSS.Gridman Preview (No Spoilers)

Amnesiac Yuuta Hibiki thought having his memories gone was the biggest of his concerns…he is far from correct on that thought. Yuuta quickly begins to realize that something is wrong with his little city and that giant kaiju seem to be surrounding it with no one noticing! Making matters worse, a kaiju suddenly appears and he learns that the only thing standing in the beast’s way is a power hidden in Yuuta called Gridman! Using an old computer, Yuuta becomes the legendary warrior and rises to defeat the kaiju. Unfortunately, Yuuta will soon enter a battle where he will need to rely on friends and strangers to help him fight these gigantic creatures and see if there’s a way to stop them once and for all.

Akane Shinjo Highlights (Spoilers Beyond This Point)

1. A villain who knows what she wants

Comic book-like villains tend to be very simple in nature. They make outrageous remarks that they want world domination or billions of dollars but we never know why they seek these things. Akane Shinjou isn’t like that though and from early on, we learn why she acts evil. With a desire to rid the world of things she don’t like, Akane aims to change the very course of the world with her massive kaiju just because she feels the world could be better in her image. It’s a bit scary a young girl wishes to abuse her powers so much, but equally, we can’t help but love Akane still nevertheless. Hopefully, she loves us too though…we don’t want to be phased out of existence.

2. Is one hot villain

Akane might be scary due to her complete lack of care when she decides to remove a teacher or student from life, but let’s be honest, folks. Akane is one quite attractive girl. With some rather nice oppai and a nice complexion, Akane is basically a knockout. So yes, Akane is evil and can be rather cruel as she shows to numerous people. However, Akane still kills with her amazing looks and that makes her a hot villain.

3. Very creative

Akane’s kaiju might be terrifying as they reduce buildings to ruble but her creations do have one good concept to them. With distinct designs and some rather cool abilities, Akane’s kaiju army is pretty creative. We loved seeing the one mecha kaiju Akane made that really tested Gridman in battle. Next time we get attacked by kaiju, we might run for our lives, but we also will be judging them compared to Akane’s work.

4. Has a kind heart…

You read the highlight right, folks; no need for a double take. Akane might be a killer and a villain—even if she isn’t killing directly and relying on her kaiju—but Akane has a kind side. The best proof of this statement comes in the very first episode. When Yuuta had lost his memories initially Akane was willing to share her lunch with him to make him feel a bit better. That’s why we know underneath her terrible God complex—and godly powers—Akane is a kind girl. Now we just need to make Akane want to stop her kaiju creation and desire to rid the world of things she doesn’t like.

5. Is a literal god

Finally, we had to point this out. Akane is a god among men and women! We can’t help but feel that’s a noteworthy point for Akane as she could literally do more but decides to just use her kaiju models to destroy and change things in her city. We won’t compare Akane’s god powers to some other anime characters out there, even though we could if we truly wanted to. As it stands though, Akane is still a god and it makes her a bit more impressive in our minds. Though we do wonder if Akane might not be the god she thinks she truly is…maybe the series will prove that to us sooner than later.

Final Thoughts

Akane Shinjou isn’t a nice girl and she is a villain by every definition of the word. Here at Honey’s Anime though, we don’t judge a girl’s hotness by her kindness and heroism or lack of. Akane is still a hottie in our minds and we’re sure many viewers of SSSS.Gridman are agreeing with us non-stop. What do you think of Akane or of SSSS.Gridman? Comment below to let know!
