1. MM!

  • Episodes: 12
  • Aired: April 2010 - December 2010

No one understands physical abuse like Aikawa, the main character of Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka?, as much as Sado of MM!. Much like the protagonist of Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka?, he is constantly hit, punted, slapped, bashed and thwacked constantly by the cast of the show, whether intentional or not. The difference between the two is simple, Sado enjoys being made to suffer.

That’s right, the main character of MM! is a bona fide masochist. In an effort to cure himself of his condition, Sado joins a special club where he hopes to work through his issues, only to discover that the other members are as weird, or weirder than he is. With a weird cast of females in the club, shown in a Harem style presentation, Sado only seems to suffer more as a result of his decision. And he enjoys it.

If you enjoyed watching the harem-like cast of Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka? abuse Aikawa in a countless number of ways, do check out MM! to sate all your sadistic needs!

2. Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu (Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts)

  • Episodes: 13
  • Aired: Jan 2010 – April 2010

Our protagonist of Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu is Akihisa Yoshii, the “baka” of the title. His academy is one that rigidly separates the elite from the common folk. Students are divided into classes from A, for the best scores, to F, for the “bakas”. Each class experiences an increasing number of luxuries afforded to them to reward their accomplishments; Class A students enjoy reclining seats and an unlimited drink bar while Class F students only get floor mats and old tables.

However, all is not lost. The academy provides students the ability to summon beasts based on their test scores to conduct an all-out battle royale between classes. If a lower class beats an upper class, they get to take the benefits from them. The protagonist leads Class F in an effort to battle all the classes and seize their perks.

Much like Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka?, Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu presents itself in a very light hearted manner with laughter all around. It has a cast of cute female characters presented in a harem style, so audiences can take their pick of their favourite girl. Though the summoning abilities are technological, much of it is presented in a magical way, summoning fantasy beasts to conduct battle.
