Similar to Mirai Nikki, Shiki has the same undertones of darkness and survival. At the climax of the story of Shiki, an all-out war was staged with many deaths as well. With death and despair being the common themes between this two anime, both animes have the same persistent emotions of melancholy and desolation as every character in both animes more or less has their own background and circumstances. Similarly, in both animes, the survivors will have to seek out the truth of their situation while surviving amidst depraved conditions. However, the main goal for both animes is to fight it out and survive for as long as possible. In survival animes, the well-being of every character is tested to its limits.
