6 Anime Like Skirt no Naka wa Kedamono Deshita [Recommendations]

Skirt no Naka wa Kemono Deshita (which will henceforth be referred to as 'Skirt' because wow, that's long) would really throw its audience for a loop if they didn't understand the title, which translates to 'there's a monster under the skirt'. While you know sort of what you're in for, it's not immediately apparent which of these beautiful babes are packing a penis. With episodes that only last a maximum of 5 minutes, you don't have long to wait to find out. Despite being short, it's pretty arousing if you're a fan of shy, hesitant girls being overpowered and overcome with pleasure, and there's the added bonus of one of the main characters being a beautiful crossdressing man (if you're into that sort of thing, but if you aren't, why are you here??).

The full series isn't out yet, so we only have a few episodes to enjoy. With the episodes being so short, surely you'll need something to pass all the extra time you'll have while waiting for the next one! Whether it's the image of girl on girl, the allure of sex forced upon someone who says they don't want it yet their body yearns for it, or the image of a man doing sexual things in women's clothing, we've got something for you!

  • Episodes: 12
  • Aired: Jan. 2009 – March 2009

Determined to find the love of her life at the same school her mother found hers, Kanako is confident she'll find her fateful lover. After all, her straight mother found love with a male teacher at this all-girl high school, so as a lesbian, this should be a breeze for Kanako! Kanako breaks out in hives in the presence of males, which she won't have to worry about, so she can concentrate on her love quest. However, her rosy high school life is completely in jeopardy when she's assigned a cute roommate... who's secretly a boy! Mariya is a beautiful crossdresser who's incredibly sadistic to the pervy Kanako. Between being harassed by Mariya and massive nosebleeds whenever she thinks about her cute classmates, Kanako will be lucky to get out alive!

There's something very funny about a person so perverted it physically punishes them, and we get that with Kanako's massive nose. While Kanako's is more comical than Shizuka from Skirt, both girls have a stronger aversion to men. Their personalities are very different, with Kanako being confident and aggressive and determined to find love, while poor Shizuka just wants to be left alone except by her close friends. Mariya certainly doesn't harbor the same love for his female companion as Ryou does for Shizuka, but they both have a sadistic streak and like getting their way. Teasing reactions out of the girls is a fun past time, though Mariya definitely does it more out of a sense of superiority. There are no sexual relations going on and it's definitely meant to make you laugh more than turn you on, but MariaHolic is a fun show for fans of cross-dressing men!

2. Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke wo (A Kiss for the Flower Petals)

  • Episodes: 1
  • Aired: July 2010

Reo is a bit standoffish and has a hard time bonding with others in her class. Mai has taken it upon herself to befriend the rude cutie even though a happy relationship doesn't look promising. Yet when Reo blindsides Mai one day admitting she's in love with her, powerful feelings and desire rise up within her and the two become inseparable. Usually, Reo has trouble conveying her feelings, but at Mai's touch, her body at least is honest.

This is a cute OVA based on the Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke wo visual novels that also feature other girls. If you enjoyed the imagery of cute girls getting touched by beautiful girls this will definitely resonate with you. The physical action is more balanced between the main characters even though it's always Mai that starts it. Mai, like Ryou, likes to initiate and cares little for silly things like getting caught at school or being heard by others. They also both enjoy teasing the one they love. While they enjoy getting their kicks, they are fiercely loyal and truly care for their girls.

3. Kuro to Kin no Akanai Kagi

  • Episodes: 2
  • Aired: Feb. 2013 – May 2013

Kanade, paralyzed by the thought of others judging her, stays holed up in her room with only her brother to care for her. He does so each day diligently, preparing her meals and trying to assuage her fears though they are not blood-related. Kanade dreams every night of finding many locked doors with only one door open and sees this as the only path her life can take. One night, several doors open, and the next day she decides she can start to change her life. She meets some interesting characters and even more doors open in her dreams. Just where will these doors lead her?

Based on another visual novel, Kuro to Kin no Akanai Kagi follows a girl who is too terrified at the thought of being near strangers she can't even leave her house. Comparatively, Shizuka is a little braver, though both heroines are especially terrified of the opposite sex. Due to their timid natures, the boys that like them take an aggressive approach to become closer with them. For a female-audience-geared anime, it's surprisingly sexy, so that's another shared characteristic.

4. Himegoto

  • Episodes: 13
  • Aired: July 2014 – Sept. 2014

Poor Hime was abandoned and left with incredible debt by his parents, and when loan sharks come to take him away, he's terrified he'll have to work as a sex slave due to his feminine looks. He is saved by three high school girls, but it's out of the frying pan and into the fire!! The girls take a liking to the maid outfit they found him in, and now he's forced to do their bidding dressed as a girl every day! For student council members, they sure are whimsical when it comes to teasing Hime.

Both Himegoto and Skirt are minisode series so a lot of character development is put on hold in order to highlight the important parts. Himegoto takes a much more comedic approach to living as a cross-dresser, as opposed to the practical use of it to escape unwanted attention in Skirt. If you love guys that are just as attractive dressed either as a guy or a girl, this will be a good one for you.

5. Okusama ga Seitokaichou! (My Wife is the Student Council President!)

  • Episodes: 12
  • Aired: July 2015 – Sept. 2015

Hayato thinks the worst thing about losing the student council election is he will have to accept Wakana Ui as the student council president, but the worst is having to accept her as a wife!! Because of an old drunken promise between their parents, Ui and Hayato are supposed to be married. Hayato is totally against it, but Ui seems fine with the setup. While Hayato seems to object verbally, he sure seems to be weak physically to Ui's allure! Can they keep their complicated relationship a secret from the school they're supposed to help lead?

While the girl in this one is the aggressor, both shows share a similar dynamic where one is very much opposed and the other is physically very pushy. This dynamic is used more for comedy than drama in Okusama. Both have short episodes so it's a quick and easy watch in your spare time. If you like the theme of being initially unwilling to be intimate but then losing yourself to an aggressive, attractive partner, then give this one a go!

6. Souryo to Majiwaru Shikiyouku no Yoru ni

  • Episodes: 12
  • Aired: April 2017 – June 2017

Mio has fantasized about her old high school crush, Takahide, for a long time and thinks the high school reunion might be her chance to admit her feelings. Once she learns he's become a monk, she believes her dreams will never be realized and tries to drink away her disappointment. After becoming inebriated, it's Takahide that takes her back home. Mio quickly learns that monks are not at all prohibited from sexual relationships, and he plans to make this very clear to Mio. Swept along at his pace, Mio must ascertain if this relationship is really what she's been longing for.

This is the most like Skirt we can possibly get if you take away the cross-dressing. We have the desired, attractive male who forces himself on a shy woman he cares deeply for. We have the reserved woman who is physical with a partner while mentally being unsure of what she wants. The balance between being a slave to desire and desperately wanting to make the one they want happy. Both shows are minisodes with heavy sexual content.

Final Thoughts

There's a lot to like about Skirt no Naka wa Kemono Deshita. Crossdressing cuties are pretty popular across the board, and it's nice to see them in power instead of just helpless little boys who have trouble asserting themselves.

While perhaps not for everyone, sometimes it's nice to see both a girl being overpowered and also very cared for by a dominant character. Sometimes we don't have the luxury of spending hours on a show, so short series can be perfect for the busy consumer. Whatever your reason, we hope you enjoy these top picks for Skirt no Naka wa Kemono Deshita!

Hey friends! I reside in Georgia and use my degree in Japanese primarily to (barely) read doujinshi that hasn’t been translated. Beyond deciding who is best girl in whatever I happen to be watching, I really enjoy ballroom dancing, reading, crying over dating sims, karaoke, and being surrounded by beautiful things~ (You know, scenery, décor, boys, stuff like that). I also love talking about passions with others!
