It has been some time since we have had an isekai anime that stars a villainess instead of a heroine. My Next Life As A Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom is the first and only villainess anime ever to be adapted into an anime. We thought we might not see another villainess anime being adapted or created. Now a year since my Next Life As A Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom has ended, we finally get another villainess anime for this Fall season! This time, our villainess has her way of getting rid of her bad ending.
I'm The Villainess, So I'm Taming the Final Boss, one of the newest isekai anime for this fall season and the latest anime from the villainess troupe. Being the second villainess anime ever to be adapted from its original works, you probably are wondering how this villainess anime turned out. Did it meet the expectation that the first villainess anime set up? Is it worth watching? We have already seen a few episodes ourselves, and here is what we think about the anime.
Same Villainess Troupe, Same Goal, Different Route
I'm The Villainess, So I'm Taming the Final Boss follows the same isekai troupe: our main character got reincarnated into another world with memories of their past. This time though, our villainess gained her memories later on during an important event in the game involving the main heroine and the crown prince. Realizing that she's doomed from the start after gaining her memories, she decides to marry the game's final boss.
If you have watched My Next Life As A Villainess, All Routes Lead to Doom; you could find similarities between the two at the beginning of the first episode. After that, you can spot the difference between the two anime. In the first episode, we can already see the Villainess troupe come into play: the villainess remembers her past life, finds that she became a Villainess in a world similar to a game she played, and wants to stop getting into the bad ending. The one noticeable difference you can see at the beginning of the series is how and when she remembers her past life. Not only that, it already sets the premise of the anime, but it also brings out an interesting perspective about the villainess.
Another difference is how and what the villainess would do to reach her goals. The goals are the same as any other villainess works; how and what the villainess would do to achieve those goals sets this anime apart from other villainess anime. Villianess's choice to try to get married to the game's final boss made it an exciting story to tell. Not to mention the comedic situations and interactions she has with the final boss made this anime enjoyable to watch.
A Villainess and Villian's Sweet Romance. Is It Enough?
The romance between the villainess and the villain is both sweet and funny. There were funny scenes between the villainess and the villain, and there were scenes that were both sweet and romantic, especially the interactions between the two. The scenes were so romantic that we sometimes couldn't help but gush over how precious they were. Is it enough, though?
A few episodes into the series, we were already at the climax between the villainess and her goal. We won't spoil the ending if you have not seen the episodes. We can't help but wonder, though, what happens next? What will happen to the series if she completes or doesn't complete her goal? We hope that there will be more to the series afterward. We will definitely keep our eyes on the series.
Final Thoughts
As a villainess series, we can see that I'm A Villainess, So I'm Taming the Final Boss has potential. Whether or not it reaches our expectations, we will have to see the upcoming episodes and what will happen as the series continues. We hope that after the climax, we see something interesting regarding our villainess.
