If you haven’t played Fortnite in a while and have a hatred of spiders, ghosts, witches, and other manner of spooky sights, you’re in for a rude awakening. The game is more spookified for Halloween than it ever has been. It’s more than just the background screen at the lobby this time around, the entire map has a haunted feel to it. Mobility, loot spawns, and hotspots have changed as well. Here’s what you might have missed in Fortnite Season 6.
Loot Lake is… well….
It’s still there, but it’s got a huge whirlpool in it. There are loot spawns in the center where the cabin island used to be and there’s a shallow area to hide in. Falling into the whirlpool will spit you back out so feel free to explore or use it to get to one side or another.
The Cube is still moving
While it was stationed over Loot Lake at the beginning, it has been moving over 7 corrupted glyphs as the day goes on. It moves its position roughly every 45 minutes towards whichever zone has a light emanating from its center. This can play havoc with your rotations as players will snipe at you from a high vantage point or swoop down on you out of nowhere. You can also camp atop there if you manage to win the area but given how many people land there first it can be difficult.
Corruption has spread
As mentioned, there are 7 corrupted zones and all of them have up to three chest spawns. When the Cube island has reached it, the zone is lifted above the ground and you need to use the wind to reach them, otherwise it’s first come first served on the ground below. Shadow Stones are also at these areas and will turn you into a ghost. In this form, you can jump and run faster and even fly and phase through walls. If you jump into a geyser you can hold momentum and go at ridiculous speeds across the map if you don’t hit anything or touch the ground for too long.
Haunted Hills is even more haunted
There’s a new castle at the mountain above Haunted Hills. There’s a lot of loot and a lot of high vantage points to harass the players below from. It’s reminiscent of something you might find in a Dracula film and, to fully explore it, you might need a Grapple Hook or a good amount of materials to build around it.
Final Thoughts
We’re looking forward to seeing just how the map will change in Season 6. It’s currently Week 2 but, after Halloween ends, it’ll be Week 6. Will there be new things taking us into the Christmas season as November comes? We’re excited to see! What are your thoughts on the map changes so far this season? Let us know in the comments!
