Hachigatsu no Cinderella Nine Introduction and Story
After entering high school, Tsubasa Arihara decides to start the schools first girl's baseball team. Along with her best friend Tomoe Kawakita, Tsubasa begins her search for prospective members in order to become an official club. The girls are able to recruit Akane Ukita and Yuk Nozaki to the team. Although they don't have any previous baseball experience, the new additions allow them to officially start the team. Hachigatsu no Cinderella follows these girls as they develop their skills and get new members as they go after their goal of reaching nationals.
1. The Characters
One of the best aspects of Hachigatsu no Cinderella Nine is how the characters are used. Each of the characters gets their own little introductory arc and we get to see them overcome their issues as they ultimately decide to join the baseball team. Each scenario is typically centered around the baseball and none of them feel over the top or forgettable. Along with this, there is also a good balance between following characters like Yuki and Akane who we follow throughout the whole series and the characters who show up a bit later and don't get as much screen time.
2. Cute Moments
The cute girls doing cute things part of the anime, is the one aspect that Hachigatsu no Cinderella Nine pulls off the best. The anime is at its best when you able to sit back and just watch the girls have some fun playing baseball. Most of the anime's best moments come when the girls are just hanging out and having some fun.
1. The Story
Hachigatsu No Cinderella Nine tries to do a lot of different things with its story and characters, but it is not able to pull any of them. The series tries to be serious sports anime, a light-hearted slice of life, and a few other genres all at once. This causes the series to never come together causing many of the episodes just feeling flat.
2. The Visuals
Hachigatsu no Cinderella Nine is not a pretty anime. It has some moments that look all right with the characters designs being fairly interesting and everything is colorful, but that's where the good things end. There is very little going on with a lot of static bodies and the character's facial expressions always feel off. While this may not be the biggest issue the series has, it is definitely one of the disappointing.
Final Thoughts
Hachigatsu no Cinderella is definitely an interesting anime. The series feels like it bit off more than it could chew, but it still has some moments where it can be quite enjoyable. What are your thoughts on Hachigatsu no Cinderella? Did you enjoy it? Is it worth watching? Tells all about in the comments.
