What You Need to Know:
- Visual novel fans, this is the moment you've been waiting for! The English-language version of beloved sci-fi visual novel ISLAND has been released on Steam by Tokyo-based visual novel developer Frontwing. The title features an intricate story with branching paths, and a sophisticated flowchart system for navigating the various routes. ISLAND will be available to purchase for $39.99, with a 10% discount for the launch week. Release on other platforms is currently under consideration.
- For those who may not know, ISLAND was originally released in Japan in 2016 and has become one of Frontwing’s best-selling and highest-rated titles. It had a PS Vita port back in 2017, with a PS4 port that released this year to positive praise. The anime adaptation, which is being directed by Keiichiro Kawaguchi of feel, inc., is currently airing in Japan and on Crunchyroll for NA viewers.
- In addition to all of this wonderful news, a Kickstarter campaign is underway offering physical English-language copies of both the game and anime adaptation! Among the campaign’s stretch goals is an English-language release of the PS4 port of ISLAND, as well as a full English translation of a brand-new artbook. The story of ISLAND revolves around Sanzenkai Setsuna, a young man who awakes on the shore of Urashima with no memory of his past. During the game, players explore Setsuna's relationship with three girls on the island, Rinne, Karen, and Sara. As he uncovers the hidden secrets of Urashima's past - and future - Setsuna must fight against fate to protect that which he treasures most.
