Kakushigoto May Be About an Ecchi Mangaka But It’s Not What You’d Think!

Knowing that an anime is about a dad who writes dirty manga and is on a mission to hide it from his daughter might lead you to believe that the show is filled with extremely large boobs bouncing in slow motion, pervertedness that causes nosebleeds bad enough to fill a river, and scenes that will make you question if you accidentally clicked on a hentai. But that couldn’t be further from the truth when watching Kakushigoto! Even if you know that this show is under the Slice of Life genre, the description will leave you perplexed with a completely different image in your head. But we assure you, you definitely can’t judge a book by its cover with this one. Or judge an anime by its innocent cover but seemingly misleading description.

Manga vs. Parenting

Kakushi Gotou is a single father who writes erotic manga for a living. His main goal is to ensure his daughter, Hime, doesn’t find out what he does. From switching outfits when going to work to running drills at work in case Hime ever shows up, Kakushi will go to whatever lengths he has to if that means Hime won’t find out his secret.

If that wasn’t stressful enough, he also has to worry about the normal, and abnormal, things that a father raising a daughter has to worry about. That’s even harder when you have to do it alone. Even with all the nonstop laughter that Kakushigoto presents, it does an excellent job of displaying the highs and lows of single parenthood, which makes the relationship between Kakushi and Hime even more adorable. Unfortunately, their pure relationship could possibly lead us to heartbreak in the end. At the end of each episode, we not only see a 17-year-old Hime, but numerous speculations that Kakushi is possibly dead. By the end of each episode, our laughter has turned into tears.

I Love Her Not You

While trying to conceal his secret from Hime, Kakushi also has to conceal it from everyone else. This becomes more of a challenge when he constantly gives women the wrong idea that he’s flirting with them. They misunderstand his comments about his adorable daughter as him coming on to them. Even with them getting the wrong idea and falling for Kakushi, nothing ecchi happens!

Final Thoughts

If you read the description of Kakushigoto and were hoping for boobs and something raunchy, you might want to look elsewhere. If you read the description and weren’t looking for something raunchy, I urge you to give this show a try. If you had any thoughts of becoming a manga artist, it might even encourage you to pursue that dream since you’ll get to see what that job is really like behind the scenes. But if you intend on creating erotic anime and you have kids, you might want to decide if you’ll tell them and what lengths you will go to to keep it a secret if you don’t want to tell them. All in all, you will be taken aback at how wholesome Kakushigoto really is. It’s definitely a lovely change of pace from all of the action anime coming out this year. Have you watched Kakushigoto? If so, were you shocked or disappointed when you finally watched it? Let us know in the comments and thank you for your support!
