I was JUST talking about how Hinomaru Zumou and other more obscure sports are getting anime. Now we have a new running anime. A bit different from, but definitely similar to Prince of Stride.

This show seems to be overflowing with shounen aspects. It feels a lot like Haikyuu! or Ballroom e Youkoso!. I am sure that it's going to turn out well.

Synopsis

Nighttime. Kakeru Kurahara runs throughout the city as if he is fleeing something. A bicycle unexpectedly pulls up next to him. A man Kakeru has never seen before pulls up next to him and says

‘Hey! You like to run, don’t you!’

That man’s name is Haiji Kiyose. Following the instructions of Haiji, Kakeru arrives at the old apartment building, Takeao Manor. There, nine different residents overflowing with individuality live. Finally, an available apartment is recommended to him, and Kakeru, being completely lost at sea, is cornered into taking the room. Who would have dreamed that he would become the 10th man in this building?

Three Episode Impression

Time for our ‘sport’ anime of the season, Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru! While I don’t really watch sports anime for the ship, I can appreciate them for the camaraderie. And no, I don’t mean that camaraderie. Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru is all about getting a team of runners together in an effort to participate in a big race in Hakone, the Hakone Ekiden. Think of it like the Boston Marathon where people have to compete in qualifiers and train really hard in order to participate. This means not just anyone can compete. We have our two main characters, Haiji and Kakeru, who take on the roles of the overzealous athlete and the disillusioned athlete. It feels similar to anime like Battery, but of course, the anime resembles many other all boys sports anime like Haikyuu!!, Free!, Kuroko no Basuke, and Prince of Stride (minus the girl). Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru tends to leave us with many funny but awkward nude moments for the guys, and there’s almost always a bath scene in each episode it seems. If you love sports anime and lots of guy on guy interaction, well, Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru has you covered. So far, I have to say I’m enjoying it and I definitely don’t consider myself a fujoshi, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
