The extreme countermeasures to the falling birthrate fundamental law is known as the “Yukari law”. This law states that when a child becomes 16 years of age, the government will inform them of their partner for marriage. Everyone has accepted it since the country can now guarantee “happiness” with good compatibility as well as there is no longer the need to go through the trouble of searching for a partner.

In this world, the main character, fifteen-year-old Yukari Nejima has feelings for his classmate Misaki Takazaki who is way out of his league. On the eve of his sixteenth birthday, he resolves to tell her about his feelings after a long year, but directly after he does so, his notification from the government arrives. But who will the red thread of science bind him to?

This is a world where the government arbitrarily decides “The person you should fall in love with” and “the person you should not fall in love with”. Is this hope? Or is it despair? The earnest, pure thoughts of these boys and girls intersects in this immature, fickle, and forbidden love story.
