What You Need to Know:
- Over the weekend, it was announced that Kyouchu Rettou (The Island of Giant Insects) will be getting a theatrical release sometime in 2020. The series debuted an OVA (after teasing beforehand that it could possibly be a TV anime adaptation) in June. Crunchyroll has announced that they have licensed the OVA and will be releasing it soon.
- The OVA was initally launched as a crowdfunding project on Campfire (a Japanese equivalent of Kickstarter) and was a success. Just like with the OVA, Passione will be the studio in charge while Takeo Takahashi will direct, Shigeru Morita will write the script, and Takayuki Noguchi will handle character design. The series has announced that Ai Inou will be played by Yurika Kubo.
- Kyochuu Rettou tells the story of a plane that goes down over an island. In it, is a class of students on a school trip. They surmise that it will be about three days until help comes. They try to survive but miss, at least at first, the fact that the island is inhabited with giant insects which view humans as food. The horror survival manga is about seeing how many students can make it off the island.
