While the BL part will obviously appeal to fujoshi, it’s Miao’s kitty cuteness in both looks and actions that really make the show stand out. For that same undeniable desire to hug and take care of nekomimi characters, check out these Winter 2020 cat-filled anime!

Uchi Tama?! Uchi no Tama Shirimasen ka? (Uchitama?! Have you seen my Tama?)
- Episodes: 11
- Aired: January 2020 – March 2020
The cats and dogs living on 3rd street are good friends and love to play together. Young Tama and his friends Pochi, Beh, Koma, and others spend their days getting lost, meeting new pets, and enjoying some free time away from their owners. Fitting of their distinct personalities, the anime mostly shows them in anthropomorphic form.
Major Similarities Between Hora, Mimi ga Mieteru yo and Uchi Tama?! Uchi no Tama Shirimasen ka? (Uchitama?! Have you seen my Tama?)
1. Characters Have Both Cat Forms and Human Forms
Endearingly, we don’t have to be satisfied with just cat ears in these anime. The kitties of UchiTama and HoraMimi have cat versions and human versions they shift between. While in HoraMimi it’s more story-driven as the Ear People have that ability, it’s purely aesthetic in UchiTama as the main characters are normal cats and dogs. We’re just given anthropomorphic cuties to fawn over so we can enjoy those twitching ears and tails all the same.
2. Sweet Relationship Between Owner and Pet
Takeshi is a lot younger than Da Shu but he has a similar role in Tama’s life as Da Shu does with Miou. Neither Miou nor Tama think much about the trouble they cause their owner/caretaker, but they do very blatantly adore them. Even with the trouble they cause, Da Shu and Takeshi take their cat boys’ mischief in stride and never resent them for it. In a way, it’s coupled with their cuteness!

- Episodes: 12
- Aired: January 2020 – March 2020
Minazuki is excited to move out of his family home away from his sister and cats to open his own patisserie. Escape is not as easy as he thought as two cats, Chocola and Vanilla, hid in one of the boxes sent to Minazuki’s shop! With their adorable girl bodies and expressive cat ears and tails, it’s impossible to stay mad at these two. Plus they become quite popular with the patrons!
Major Similarities Between Hora, Mimi ga Mieteru yo! and Nekopara
1. Not Pets, But Family
In both Hora, Mimi ga Mieteru yo! And Nekopara, there’s a clear dynamic that the main character(s) with the cat ears are in the lower position to the human. The power imbalance is almost laughable, though, as Minazuki and Da Shu can’t help but dote on their cute kitties. Chocola and Vanilla are not what you’d call obedient and care more about being close to their master than actually listening to him. Miou very much cares about Da Shu’s feelings but often hurts or crushes Da Shu in those moments of ‘comfort’.
2. Not All Cat Ears are the Same
Miao, along with Coconut, Chocola, Vanilla, and Cacao are all very cat-like and can’t help but follow their feline instincts. However, not all those with cat ears act the same. Miou is noted as being special and different in his cat-likeness and inability to fully control his transformations while most Ear People can blend in with humans. Coconut, Chocola, Vanilla, and Cacao are simply a result of being young and not as fully trained. The older and more experienced with the outside world catgirls have less frequent demonstrations of their cat nature, though they are not without instances of reverting to less human behaviors.
