Frontwing's Exclusive Interview w/ Director Hantenboshi!
Frontwing: What can you tell us about the similarities and differences between Loca-Love and your previous project with nanaca mai, Corona Blossom?
Hantenboshi-san: As for similarities, I would say that the fact that both have cute girls is the only one: they're completely different genres. Loca-Love is more similar to a previous Frontwing title called Yukikoi Melt (currently only available in Japanese) which was very popular and even earned the prestigious Moe Game Award.
In that game, we presented the concept of "super sweet love": a couple living a blessed life together, maddeningly in love with each other. Some of the dialogue in Yukikoi Melt was so sweet, many players shared with us comments like "I feel I'm gonna get a toothache" or "This should be a mandatory reading for those wanting to know what a 'super sweet love story' is". That's how highly valued the game was.
The Corona Blossom trilogy was more like a single novel when you read the three of them together, but Loca-Love has different heroines in each volume, so it'd be more like an omnibus containing separate short stories. So you can start buying Loca-Love from any volume and read it in any order you like; pick the heroine you like the most and only read her story... No problem with either of those options.
Of course I'd like you to read all of them, though!
Frontwing: Kojika Hiwa, the heroine of Loca-Love: My Cute Roommate, is of course tremendously cute, but she also has this stern look in her eyes sometimes... What can you tell us about her?
When we decided we wanted to do a story of a couple living together, we created Hiwa as a girl who would be the best suited for this: cute, loved by absolutely everyone at the cake shop she works at part time, but also completely unaware of those things. She would be considerate, and helping the protagonist, who's somehow lost the way in his own life. Her cooking would be great, she would care about the MC's personal appearance and even help him improve it.
Since she also has little siblings, she would have this older sister aura that makes you feel you want to be pampered by her. Even though she's not older than the main character, she has this maternal aura too, and our MC is the most important thing for her. Just by living with her, you will feel blessed every day.
Ah, I wish I could enter the screen and live with Hiwa too!
