The Strange But Cute Waifu of Summer 2020 Anime

Everyone deserves some love and attention, right? That’s the beauty of anime and the various waifu we come across as otaku. Yes, there might be obvious choices in who deserves the best waifu award but some anime cuties get pushed aside due to their strangeness. Here at Honey’s Anime, we don’t discriminate against any anime girl and we have taken notice of not only the best waifu but the ones that usually aren’t noticed due to their strange tendencies. Let’s see what summer 2020 anime had for those who want the odder waifu variety.

Hana Uzaki from Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai! (Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!)

Hana Uzaki can be quite deceptive at first. You might just see Uzaki as a beautiful—slightly moe—college girl with large oppai but there’s plenty of strangeness behind that small frame. Uzaki is quite content to push Shinichi Sakurai—the main man of Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out—despite his clear desire to just live a peaceful existence. Uzaki has a ton of energy and looks to just overwhelm her friends with her overly energetic persona. In conclusion, Uzaki is pretty dang hot and cute but her strangeness level is out in space and that makes her perfect for us who adore strange girls like her.

Echidna “The Witch of Greed” from Re: Zero Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu 2nd Season (Re:ZERO - Starting Life in Another World – Season 2)

The Witch of Greed—aka Echidna—has definitely become one of the bigger discussion grabbing ladies from Re:Zero. Echidna is weird that much is easy to see from her attempts at making Subaru drink her “fluids” and from the fact that she revels in seeing our hero squirm because of it. Echidna is quite cute thanks to her beautiful features but her attitude is just so bizarre we can’t figure her out just quite yet. Maybe that is what makes Echidna so odd, that as far as the witches of the series go, she’s the most normal by comparison.

Ma Bora from The God of High School

Ma Bora doesn’t get a lot of screen time in The God of High School but her impact on our hearts was still great. Ma appears before Dae-Wi Han as he searches for a missing Mo-Ri Jin and a fight immediately ensues. Ma Bora unleashes a slew of abilities on our stoic warrior but with little effort, Dae-Wi takes down Ma Bora impressing her enough to earn a kiss. How fast Ma switched from enemy to potential love interest for our Dae-Wi is extremely weird but we shouldn’t be surprised by the strange girl we just meet on a whim. Ma Bora is weird and strange and that made us instantly take notice of this yellow jumpsuit fighter.

Scheta Synthesis Twelve from Sword Art Online: Alicization – War of Underworld 2nd Season

The Integrity Knights in the Underworld are quite far from normal but one of the most bizarre knights is Scheta. Not only does this Synthesis Knight barely speak—thus why she’s nicknamed The Silent—but she seems almost always overly uncaring towards her situation. Even odder, Scheta falls for not another human warrior but one of the Dark Territory leaders Iskahn! Nevertheless, Scheta nails the overly cool waifu shtick perfectly. Scheta might lack strong emotions but clearly, she's waifu material for those who like kuudere anime girls.

Final Thoughts

Strangeness shouldn't deter someone from loving a possibly great anime waifu. Most anime girls can be quite strange already so in our minds, these waifu are just like any other anime girl.

Do you have any love for the girls we mentioned above or do you feel there was a strange waifu we somehow missed from this summer season? Comment below to let us know and for more waifu love keep stuck to our lovely hive here at Honey’s Anime!

Hey everyone I’m Aaron Curbelo or Blade as I’m called by my YouTube Subscribers. I’ve been an anime/manga fan since I was a young kid. In terms of anime I have watched nearly a thousand shows and have read hundreds of manga series. I love writing and honestly was so happy to join Honey’s Anime to get a shot to write articles for such a wonderful site. I’m a firm believer in respect in the anime community being the most important embodiment we should all have. We all love anime and we have varying opinions of series but we should respect one another for those differences! Life is too precious to spend it making needless arguments in a community that should be the shining example of loving an amazing medium. I hope as a writer for Honey’s Anime I can bring you folks some amazing articles to read and enjoy!
