Top 10 Female Character in Anime 2017

In 2017, anime fans got a ton of anime to watch for four seasons. Thus, with so much anime, we also got a lot of female characters to begin our 2017 waifu wars. Various girls filled our screens on a weekly basis and provided viewers ample amounts of entertainment based on the girl’s respected show. With so many girls showing up last year—seeing as how we’re writing this in 2018—aren’t you curious of one little question? Who are the best female characters in anime from 2017?

Here at Honey’s Anime, we too wondered about this question. We entered a room, our waifus each on a list and we began defending them to the best of our skills. After furious debates and a lot of disagreements, we finally were able to put together the Top 10 Female Characters in Anime 2017. Trust us folks, our list may agree with you and it may not. Though nonetheless, we feel these are the top girls for various reasons to appear in anime last year.

Beginning our list of females hailing from 2017, we start with Moriko Morioka from Net-juu no Susume. Moriko, in many ways, symbolizes girls who get enveloped within the world of MMORPGs and that’s not a bad thing. We love Moriko because unlike a lot of fictional anime girls, she feels very real. The way Moriko reacts and acts in Net-juu no Susume are close to how real gamers react with romantic situations and how she falls in love in the show make every scene feel so genuine. Moriko may be an unemployed gamer but we still love her and think she was one of the best girls from 2017.

Back in the summer 2017 season, anime fans of Shingeki no Bahamut got a treat as the sequel Virgin Soul released. Fans also got in turn a very infamous female lead named Ninja Drango. Throughout Shingeki no Bahamut: Virgin Soul, Nina both made viewers jump for joy and get agitated at her in equal amounts. Regardless of what Ninja did right and wrong in Shingeki no Bahamut: Virgin Soul, we can’t deny that she was still cute and cool throughout all 24 episodes. It also goes to prove that even if Nina is a hybrid dragon and human, she still makes mistakes. Thus, we here at Honey’s Anime look past her mistakes and failings to feel she was a great character from 2017.

In Ballroom e Youkoso, we are introduced to several female dancers of various skill levels. One of the first dancers introduced is the gorgeous Shizuku Hanaoka. With elegant moves, a stunning body and a truly kind heart Shizuku stole our hearts not only on the dance floor but off it as well. Shizuku, however, appears near the bottom of our list for the simple reason that during the second cour of Ballroom e Youkoso her role is less than the first. However, the fact that Shizuku beat out dozens of other girls to appear on our Top 10 Female Characters in Anime 2017 list shows she’s a pretty awesome girl.

Chise Hatori has come from a rather cruel background that many wouldn’t survive from. However, as Chise comes to grow as a person in Mahoutsukai no Yome, we see her kindness and her cute nature overshadowing her dark past. Chise has shown not only impressive levels of compassion for others—both human and non-human—but she’s shown an indomitable spirit that impresses even the characters in Mahoutsukai no Yome. We would have put Chise higher on the list, but we felt that would-be kind of cheap. Chise’s story has only been halfway told so far and thus, for now, she can only take sixth on our Top 10 Female Characters in Anime 2017 list.

5. Meteora Osterreich from Re:Creators

As a human race, we have built various fictional worlds for different form of medium like video games and anime. What if those characters could talk though? What if they invaded our world? Souta Mizushino has just witnessed the what ifs coming to fruition as several fictional characters have entered his world. With various reasons for existing, these men and women are about to show the world the beauty and devastation of a creator’s creation.

Meteora Osterreich from Re:Creators was one of our favorite females from the show without a doubt. Calm and collected, Meteora was less about causing a scene like the other creations and more about trying to analyze the means of why this event happened and if there was to undo it. Meteora was also a powerful ally for the humans in keeping Altair from destroying their world and even made quite a sacrifice in the final episode of Re:Creators. We won’t spoil what that sacrifice was though and if you’re curious you’ll just have to check out Re:Creators for yourself. Did we also mention that Meteora was extremely cute making us fall for her quiet charms?

Maika Sakuranomiya’s smile might scare off many but in Café Stiles people love it on her sadistic persona. We too here at Honey’s Anime would love to see Maika at work. Though like many fans of Blend S we know that Maika is more than her work attitude. Maika is actually very cute and kind outside of work as she always tries her best to obtain of her dreams of studying abroad. Regardless of what you thought of Blend S, you have to admit thanks to tons of gifs and videos, Maika was well known throughout the anime community.

3. Yumeko Jabami from Kakegurui

  • Episodes: 12

With a strong poker face and nerves of steel, Yumeko seems to never let herself panic when a game goes in favor of her opponent. In fact, Yumeko actually seems to get pleasure from any gambling game especially when the stakes increase. Yumeko is truly a very unique individual but that’s what we love about her.

2. Kanna “Kanna Kobayashi” Kamui from Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon

  • Episodes: 13

Thus, with a mixture of guilt and intrigue, Kobayashi agrees to have the dragon named Tooru stay with her. Unfortunately, Kobayashi isn’t prepared for the randomness that comes from having a dragon as a maid.

While Tooru and Quetzalcoatl Lucoa could have taken the second place on our Top 10 Female Characters in Anime 2017 list, we couldn’t do it. The one who beat them all for being incredibly cute and taking over the internet in the gif world is Kanna Kamui from Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon. Sure, Kanna is indeed a loli and and quite young. Nevertheless, Kanna is still so amazingly cute and the subject of so many fans affection that we knew she needed to be high on our list. We also knew that not including Kanna would probably cause a riot on the internet. Thankfully, even we know Kanna was perfect for our list and was probably one of the most popular girls in anime back in 2017.

1. Ruler from Fate/Apocrypha

  • Episodes: 25
  • Aired: Jul,2017-Dec,2017

For generations, the Holy Grail has been a subject of much devotion and love for its hidden powers and abilities to grant the desires of worthy men and women. That’s why various warriors have always relied on the Holy Grail War to act as a means of weeding out all who wish to abuse the powers of the Grail. A new Holy Grail War was already in session but when the Grail disappears the war ends with no victors. Years pass and the Yggdmilliennia—a group that left the Mage’s Association—has claimed to have the grail. During an attempt to get it back, 50 mages perished but one lived activating a reverse Holy Grail War known as the Greater Grail. Now instead of seven servants, there will be 14 and that means a larger war than ever is about to begin.

Taking number 1 on our spot we see Ruler from Fate/Apocrypha. Ruler is everything we love about a Fate series character. Strong, righteous and kind, Ruler is just so easy to love. From the Heroic Spirit Jeanne d’Arc or better known as Joan of Arc, it’s not really surprising that Ruler is the mediator of the new Grail War but becomes something so much more as Fate/Apocrypha goes on. We here at Honey’s Anime loved Ruler in Fate/Apocrypha and we know we aren’t alone in the community.
