Top 3 Slice of Life Anime We Want to Watch Summer 2017

Introduction

Slice of life is one of the most soothing genres around. It allows you to take a step into a whole other world and dive right into the everyday lives of different groups of characters. Although some might have drama elements, and the genre technically could mean a slice of literally any kind of life, most slice of life anime are mellow and full of cute characters trying their best.

We’re often spoilt for choice, too, when it comes to the selection of slice of life anime available every season. So how do you know what’s worth watching and what’s going to leave you feeling like you shouldn’t have bothered? If you love everything about slice of life series and want to keep up with the best of current anime, this is the article for you! We’ve put together the top three slice of life series you should start with this summer. Onwards!

1. Centaur no Nayami

First up we have the slice of life anime you should have on your list this summer 2017 season. This is going to be the next Demi-chan wa Kataritai, so if you enjoyed that series as much as we did, you’re going to love Centaur no Nayami. Like Demi-chan, this anime follows the high-school lives of a variety of supernatural girls, including Himeno the centaur, Nozomi the Draconid, and Kyouko the Goatfolk. It also gives off some serious Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon vibes, as the characters are super cute. However, Centaur no Nayami will be more focused on friendship than family or a harem.

The lives we’ll be stepping into in this anime will be that of teenage girls who have their typical teenage girl problems, but also have that added extra baggage of not being 100% human. This will bring that supernatural edge to the series that not many others have. Overall, we expect this anime to be everything you could want from a school slice of life anime and more. Expect plenty of cuteness and humourous moments to keep you more than entertained this summer.

2. Tenshi no 3P

Next up we have what is probably going to be one of the most adorable anime this summer season. Tenshi no 3P follows the story of three elementary school girls who form a band. There’s Jun-chan, the crybaby guitarist and vocalist, Zomi, the determined bassist, and Kuu, the dozy drummer. These three bandmates are so close they might as well be sisters, so we can expect to see some real power-of-friendship moments as well as some super-cute music scenes à la K-On! and Love Live!, but with lolis.

In Tenshi no 3P, these three girls come into contact with a young musician, known online as Hibiki P. Real name Kyou Nukui, this guy might be quite a bit older than the band, but has a super-gentle personality and plenty of talent. We’ll get to watch as these characters come into contact and make music together. There should be some comedic moments, some emotional moments, and hell, judging from the latest PV, maybe even some ecchi moments. But overall, this anime should be full of plenty of heartwarming slice of life fuzzies. The art is another reason to give Tenshi no 3P a shot - these little angels literally sparkle!

3. Konbini Kareshi

Finally we have Konbini Kareshi, one for those who like their slice of life anime to have a touch of romance in them. Whereas Centaur no Nayami and Tenshi no 3P focus on school girls, Konbini Kareshi focuses on high-school boys. That’s not to say there isn’t girls, of course, as this anime follows a group of boys and girls and their interactions - whether they’re just friends, something more, or hoping to be - however, the focus is on the guys. Oh, and they’re pretty gorgeous, too. Bonus.

So what kind of plot can we expect in Konbini Kareshi? Well, this is pretty much going to be your standard high school, character-driven series, so don’t expect any huge dramatic or action-filled plot points. There’s no supernatural creatures or musical lolis here, either. However, if you enjoyed the simplicity and romantic elements of anime such as Nijiiro Days, Kimi to Boku, and Kimi ni Todoke, this is one show you don’t want to miss this summer.
