He has the ability to guide knights and used to be a leading member of the Hero’s party, but as he cannot use any strong magics or martial arts himself, he was eventually kicked out of the party and ended up deciding to open a shop and live a quiet life. Although he sometimes lacks self-confidence, he’s a kind person and is willing to risk himself to help others.
Red initially meets his girlfriend Rit while on a quest with his old party. Later, once Red is settled in the countryside, he and Rit meet again and Rit decides to help out in his shop and begin living with him. Red is a loving boyfriend who cares a lot about Rit and is willing to help her out with anything despite Rit often insisting she can prevail alone. Red teaches her that it isn’t bad to ask for help if you need it, which is a very important message!
4. Geordo from Otome Game no Hametsu Flag shika Nai Akuyaku Reijou ni Tensei shiteshimatta... (My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!)
Geordo is the third prince of the country and has a charming princely smile, but in contrast to his perfect appearance, he can be quite cunning and ruthless. He is short-tempered and often does things without thinking them through, which he considers one of his shortcomings.
Geordo initially has no interest in his girlfriend, Katarina, finding her a typical annoying noble girl, but after being surprised by her unpredictability, Geordo falls in love with her. His romantic gestures include confessing to her multiple times, publicly advertising his love to her, and being willing to do anything that she wants, whether becoming the king or giving up his claim to the throne. Visiting Katarina often and bringing her sweets as presents, Geordo is a super dedicated boyfriend!
3. The Duke from Shinigami Bocchan to Kuro Maid (The Duke of Death and His Maid)
The Duke is the protagonist of The Duke of Death and His Maid. He is sadly cursed to not be able to touch any living thing, or that living thing will die. Due to this curse, he confines himself to his mansion and he is usually gloomy. He is also shy and timid, getting embarrassed easily.
While most people keep their distance from the Duke because of his curse, Alice, his maid, does not. Instead, she chooses to live with the Duke and promises to help him get rid of his curse. While Alice often teases him lovingly, the Duke comes to care for Alice because Alice is the only person who isn’t afraid of being around him. He becomes a loving romantic interest who will protect Alice from anything, and his personality warms up as he and Alice become closer. The Duke is a kind person who doesn’t have ill will toward other people and emphasizes with others easily. We believe his loyalty and genuineness make him a great pick for a boyfriend.
2. Izumi Miyamura from Horimiya
Izumi Miyamura is one of the main characters of the romance anime Horimiya. Initially, he comes off as a gloomy and quiet nerd. He struggles to socialize with other students and has experienced bullying as a result. He also does poorly in school, only cares about graduating, and he generally has low self-esteem.
His life changes when one day Izumi meets Kyouko Hori after bringing home her little brother from school after the little brother gets a nosebleed. He recognizes Kyouko despite her at-home appearance being completely different from her at-school appearance, and they see a hidden side of each other that is different from their school personalities. With Kyouko, Izumi is able to act more laid-back and carefree. He comes to care deeply about her and starts dating her. To her, Izumi is a good and caring boyfriend who tries to help his girlfriend as much as he can, especially regarding her little brother who she’s responsible for. Fearing that Kyouko might be embarrassed to be seen dating him, Izumi also changes his appearance: he cuts his hair and stops wearing glasses to school. This causes girls to flock to him and start flirting with him. He doesn’t like the attention and instead prefers to be invisible at school, but Izumi puts up with it for Kyouko’s sake. We love seeing Izumi’s personality bloom as he begins dating Kyouko, and being such a kind and caring boyfriend, he is definitely a great pick for our Top 5 Anime Boyfriends of 2021 list.

Takemichi is an extremely loyal character who is willing to risk his life to ensure that his friends are safe. He doesn’t surrender in fights and would rather get hurt than see his friends harmed. This is evidenced by the fact that he time travels to rescue his past girlfriend despite the fact they are no longer dating in the present day. Time travel has many side effects, including memory lapses. He is a truly dedicated boyfriend that will go far to help Hinata, winning him the Number 1 spot on our list.
