Vinland Saga is such an extraordinary manga and we were all dreaming about an anime adaptation. Do you think it will live up to the hype?

It feels like Kingdom and all those historic anime about great empires, but it's more like Arslan Senki in that it shows an ancient non-japanese story from a Japanese perspective. I think it will do great!

To be honest, I can see some similarities with Golden Kamui too. In the tone at least? Whatever the case, I'm not missing Vinland Saga for anything in the world!

There's nothing more sexy than a strong viking... so count me in!

Characters & Voice Actors List

Thorfinn (boy)

Voice Actor: Shizuka Ishigami

As a boy, Thorfinn lives in Iceland, and is overflowing with curiosity, hates to lose, and dreams of traveling. He dreams of going to the newly discovered continent, Vinland, which he heard about from his father, Thors, and the adventurer, Leif Erickson. He thinks that he wants to set foot in this new land. He takes up weapons to board his father’s ship as a warrior, when...

Thorfinn (man)

Voice Actor: Yuuto Uemura

As a man, Thorfinn is the powerful successor of his father Thors, who was an amazing warrior. Making use of his small frame to maneuver in small circles quickly allows him to fight over extended periods of time. However, he’s short-tempered and has a habit of getting carried away. This can lead to him frequently being at a disadvantage in battle. He remembers the name of Vinland ever since he was a child, hidden deep in his memories.

Voice Actor: Kenichirou Matsuda

Thors is Thorfinn’s father. He was a former commander of the Northern Atlantic’s most powerful team, the Jomsviking Warriors. He was fearfully referred to as the Troll of Jomsviking. After he started a family however, he lost interest in fighting, faked his own death in battle, and fled. Now, he lives in a village in Iceland where he is well-loved by said village, living in peace. He does worry for his song Thorfinn, who wants to become a warrior.

Voice Actor: Naoya Uchida

The leader of an army consisting of 100 Vikings. He acts friendly toward everyone he meets, but in reality he is a cruel schemer who will do whatever it takes to achieve his own goals. His swordsmanship is top-notch. He is also talented at discerning people’s true natures.

Voice Actor: Kensho Ono

A prince next in line to take over Denmark’s throne. Due to being raised in a harsh environment with a political power struggle, he is a major coward. He does not listen to anyone but his retainer, Ragnar.

Voice Actor: Aiko Ootsuka

A warlord with an extremely large build and inhuman strength. He always desires to fight opponents stronger than himself and loves battle so much that he purposefully defected to the enemy’s side. With his overwhelming strength and heroic character, he is a charismatic Viking leader.

Voice Actor: Hiroki Yasumoto

A veteran in Askeladd’s band of Vikings and his second in command. He does not like fighting to make a profit, but rather is a warrior who throws himself into battle because he enjoys killing. By consuming berserker mushrooms, he receives the power of a monster and loses his sense of self, going on a rampage.
