Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san Introduction

As a child, Kogarashi Fuyuzora was tormented by his ability to interact with ghosts. Kogarashi's supernatural abilities caused him to get possessed and cause problems for the people around him. After learning to fight back against the ghosts, Kogarashi was ready to finally live a normal life. Kogarashi was able to find a cheap boarding house to stay in, but he finds out soon after his arrival that he is sharing the room with a ghost. The ghost is of a young high school aged girl named Yuuna Yunohana. Thanks to his ability to see the ghost, he is able to befriend Yuuna. Kogarashi agrees to help Yuuna with her unfulfilled desires in order to help her pass on to the afterlife.

Why You Should Watch Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san

1. Kogarashi

Kogarashi is by far one of the best parts of Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san. If you are tired of the typical harem protagonist, Kogarshi is just what you are looking for. While Kogarashi isn't the most original protagonist ever, he doesn't suffer from many of the qualities that many harem protagonists do and even has some pretty cool powers that he uses to help people in need.

2. Wide Variety of Characters

Kogarashi finds himself surrounded by many girls that all have different defining character traits. The sheer number of different character types that Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san covers is impressive. There is a ghost girl, a cat girl, a ninja girl and so many more characters for you to enjoy. With such a wide array of girls, you are sure to find a character that you really enjoy.

3. The Ecchi

If you are a big fan of ecchi anime, Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san has all of your needs covered, but if the ecchi isn't your favorite thing in the world, you may still enjoy the anime. There are plenty of ecchi scenes throughout the series, but they are never overwhelming. The anime does a good job mixing in its ecchi scenes with the more dramatic scenes and comedy scenes to keep you from ever getting bored or offended by its ecchi-ness.

Why You Should Skip Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san

1. The Rest of the Characters

Unfortunately, the characters in outside of Kogarashi come off as being fairly bland. The girls all get little bits of character development and have a few interesting quirks to their personalities, but they largely fall into the typical harem tropes. Although most of the characters have their small moments to shine, they aren't going to make you want to come back to the anime for their stellar personalities.

2. Boring Story

The story can be quite entertaining at times, but you will come across some pretty boring stretches in most episodes. Too often the anime will falter with its storylines leading to whole episodes passing by with little actually happening. When the stories are at the best, you are in for a treat, but when they aren't, you are in for a long dragged out episode.

3. Lack of Supernatural Stories

The best arcs in the series revolve around the supernatural storylines. The incidents involving the black dragon and the ghost couple are some of the best parts of the show and make full use of all of the anime's story elements. With two or three more episodes surrounding the supernatural, the story could have been a lot more unique and interesting.

Final Thoughts

If you want a solid harem ecchi show, Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san has everything you are looking for and a lot more. If you can't stand ecchi there is nothing here for you to enjoy.
