It can be really difficult navigating the sea of anime that comes out every season. Most fans pick between three to ten shows and call it quits there. Do you know how many shows hit the airwaves this season? Over sixty! Sixty! That means that even if you did the average and watched ten shows, you are only getting one sixth of a sample of what the anime world has to offer. If you watched three shows then you are only getting about 5% of what that season has! 5% is hard to judge an entire season on. So, in the spirit of Honey’s Anime we are going to present you today with four shows that we think that if you are not watching them, then you are missing out! We do not expect you to pick up all four, but these are shows that are flying under most people’s radars and they may not even know they are missing out on something good. So enjoy! 4 Spring 2017 Shows You Might Be Sleeping on, But Should Not Miss!
1. Oushitsu Kyoushi Haine
If you’re not watching Oushitsu Kyoushi Haine, you’re missing out on all kinds of fun. First things first: it’s filled to the brim with pretty boys. If you’re not into gorgeous 2D boys, it’s got plenty more to offer too, like hilarious comedy. Basically, if you enjoyed Ouran High School Host Club, Oushitsu Kyoushi Haine is bound to be right up your alley. It gives off the same vibe with its style of comedy and its subtle mockery of the ridiculously rich (in this case though, they’re actually princes, so they have a legit excuse for being so sheltered). Also, as with OHSHC, each and every character is well-rounded and just darn adorable. Sure they may fall into certain tropes, like the intelligent megane character, the far-less-intelligent tsundere who just wants to do good, the silent-but-deadly-looking softie, and the light-hearted playboy - but each of the princes is adorable in his own way. And then there’s our Royal Tutor Haine who (bless his heart) has to somehow make these ridiculous teens into respectable candidates for the throne. Overall, there’s just lots of fun to be had with Oushitsu Kyoushi Haine - don’t miss out on it!

2. Hinako Note
Love moe characters? Soothy-soothy slice of life? Well, I’ve got just the show for you. Hinako Note is the soft and cuddly moe anime of spring 2017. We follow the socially-anxious and all-out-awkward Hinako as she tries to overcome her fears of speaking to and in front of others to set up her own acting troupe and get involved in the theatrical world. With its soft pastel colour palette and equally softly-voiced seiyuu, there’s so such thing as stress when you’re watching Hinako Note. If you need your anime to be jam-packed with angsty action, this probably isn’t the show for you, but if you enjoy soothing slice of life and the odd bit of gentle-but-not-overpowering fanservice, you can’t miss out on Hinako Note. What are you waiting for? Go get started and feel like you’re being hugged for twenty-odd minutes.

3. Warau Salesman NEW
Besides the fact that Moguro looks nothing like his fellow animated characters, this man is creepy with a capital C. Running around like some sort of magical fairy, his goal in life is to fill holes in the hearts of those who have them. So, inevitably what happens is someone either has some sort of crisis or trouble that they are going through and BOOM! Out of nowhere, Moguro appears, gives them a business card, and then proceeds to tell them how he could be of service. Most people do not agree immediately, and they have some other sort of crisis and then Moguro helps them again by, for example, letting them relax another day, spend another moment with the beautiful woman, let them be in power, or something to that nature. However this always comes at a price. Muguro always warns them “You must never meet them” or “you can only come here once a month” or “you can only meet with this person once a month”, and subsequently the rules are always broken. He steps in and lets them know that they have broken their promise and suddenly the thing that they were avoiding or trying to escape from suddenly becomes the thing that they are bound to infinitely. The story represents real issues and problems that Japanese people face on a daily basis. I am surprised actually that they are so open about some of the issues. This is because in Japan, when you have a problem, you are the one usually blamed, not the aggressor, or if the aggressor accepts some of the blame, the victim is expected to take some of it too. Either way the show, even though it is episodic, is interesting, deep, and overall a great watch. It is in my top 10 this season and it should be in yours too! Check it out.

4. Ani ni Tsukeru Kusuri wa Nai!
This one is really flying under many radars, but Ani ni Tsukeru Kusuri wa Nai is the perfect three minute dose of weekly comedy that you did not know you need in your life! If you don’t like to laugh, then I do not know what to tell you. For those of you do, take idiot older brother who is greedy and a lecher, and a smart, violent younger sister and put them in school together. The comedy is bound to happen. Sometimes it is over 500 yen owed to someone, sometimes it is about being treated to lunch, and other times it is about a missed connection. Either way, even at three and a half minutes, this show is comedy gold. The over the top acting, the little sister who breaks stereotypes, the brother who is always getting himself into trouble, there is nowhere that you cannot find something enjoy! Short, sweet, and to the point, it’s worth every last minute on your screen. Check it out for more! watching.
