Akitaru is one of the first members of the Company Shinra meets, as he is the captain of the group. He effectively leads his comrades through each dangerous situation they encounter, considering both the safety of the group and of those involved in the situation. Akitaru is an effective leader in all senses, willing to do what is necessary to make it through a bad situation, even if the solution for doing so might be difficult.

Akitaru is not afraid to follow his own moral compass, even in a world surrounded by corruption and mystery. He knows that every other fire brigade has some sort of ulterior motive and is hiding what they know from the others, but he continues to seek the truth in his own honest fashion. He always struggles for the sake of others, being one of the few who wants nothing more than to uncover the truth behind Infernos.

Well known for his raw physical strength, Akitaru is recognized by every other firefighter for being impressive on the battlefield. He trains hard every single day, even lifting weights when having a casual conversation with his comrades! That training pays off, allowing Akitaru to withstand entire ceilings falling on him, to lift tons of equipment with ease, and to protect his subordinates from whatever might befall them. And that is not even considering his strength of will as well!

Every other member of the fire brigades has some sort of impressive supernatural ability to help in their battles, especially when it comes to the captains. Yet Akitaru remains one of the strongest captains, despite having no ability at all! He was recognized twice for moments of bravery on the battlefield, though disobeying orders in favor of saving lives has caused both of these rewards to be revoked. He is the epitome of a traditional firefighter, brought into this world of supernatural abilities and yet thriving in it.

Akitaru makes sure his comrades are taken care of, treating them all with kindness and respect in mind. He is encouraging of both Shinra and Arthur during the Rookie Fire Soldier Games, cheering them on. He is also caring when it comes to the victims involved in the Inferno incidents, asking his team to hide their weapons from the families and taking the time to help in the emotional aftermath as much as he can.
