Our Favorite Scorpio Anime Guys! [Updated]

The Scorpio birthday month is here! On the positive end, Scorpios often have determination, passion, and bravery, when needed. On the not-so-positive end, they can be secretive, and that determination we love can lead them to stubbornly unable to quit when the time is right. Celebrating this month as well are some characters near and dear to anime fans around the world. All of these things make Scorpios cool, and here are our current favorites!

The Sign that can Sting: Scorpio!

5. Uryu Ishida - Bleach

  • Birthday: November 6

Uryu Ishida knows himself to be the last Quincy. Alone, he continues the practice that was passed from his grandfather to him. Though this guy has a sharp tongue, Uryu is often correct in his logic. He is a good friend but can be brutally honest. It takes him a while to open up to others, but once he gives someone his trust, he is sure they will not betray him. This determined guy can be secretive, but gosh darn it if we don't love that too. Uryu loses his powers and gains them back through painstaking practice and grit.

4. Donquixote Doflamingo - One Piece

  • Birthday: October 23

Donquixote Doflamingo lost everything as a child but built back an empire more extraordinary than anyone imagined. Doflamingo sits in the background and makes the moves he wants to watch his ambitions come to life. Previously one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, pirating was so destructive that the military preferred to work with him rather than against him. This expressive individual walks around with pink glasses and a giant-pink feathery cape. Don't like it? Too bad. This Scorpio does what he wants. If you're going to stop him, then you better be ready for the fight of your life. He's the perfect villain!

3. Shinra Kusakabe - Enen Shouboutai (Fire Force)

  • Birthday: October 29

This firey Fire Force member of Company Eight was a Scorpio long before his current adventures. Though his childhood contained true trauma that led to years of being misunderstood, it did not change Shinra. The world might not know what Shinra was like, but that did not stop him from knowing himself. This determined and brave individual is out to find the cause of spontaneous human combustion, and he has a great company to do it with. Shinra is honest and loyal and puts everything he has into his fights. When he reconnects with his long-lost brother, that effort is only redoubled.

2. Toge Inumaki - Jujutsu Kaisen

ONEPIECE-Wallpaper-1-700x391 Our Favorite Scorpio Anime Guys! [Updated]

  • Birthday: October 23

Toge Inumaki is one of the upperclassmen at Jujutsu High. Though a sharp tongue and blunt speech are often associated with Scorpios, the same cannot be said of Toge. His power is in his ability to control others with his speech. It is so advanced that Toge is always guarding what he says, and you usually will only hear him speak in foods. Though he communicates with many "tuna mayo" and "bonito" expressions, he is definitely still a Scorpio. He is an honest and loyal person who is clever with the use of his power. We are looking forward to more Toge in future Jujutsu Kaisen productions!

1. Shota Aizawa - Boku no Hero Academia (My Hero Academia)

ONEPIECE-Wallpaper-1-700x391 Our Favorite Scorpio Anime Guys! [Updated]

  • Birthday: November 8, 1996

And our favorite Scorpio on today's list is Shota Aizawa, an instructor at UA High School. This logically-minded teacher has high expectations of his students. As someone who trains heroes, he looks to give them an experience that will keep them alive in the real world. This Scorpio speaks his mind and can be viciously honest, like when he told Midoriya that he did not believe he could be a hero at their first meeting.

He puts his students into problematic positions that cause them to grow, and he does not mind lying to his pupils if it makes them try harder. Though he is very strict with his students, his own power is impressive, and there is no doubt that he has what it takes to survive and help others do the same. He cares about his students and observes them more often than he lets on.

Final Thoughts

Stubborn, strong, and standing for themselves, everyone needs a Scorpio in their lives. Who was your favorite from our list? Was there someone else we ought to have included? Let us know in the comments!

Scorpios are among the most passionate of the zodiac signs. This being said, it is not only in love that their passion resides but in their approach to life as well. They are fiery individuals that are a force to be reckoned with when angered and a true friend to have when you need them most. A Scorpio’s loyalty never wavers, however they can prove to be exceptionally stubborn. As with any sign, they are not without their weaknesses. Scorpios have a tendency to be distrusting which can poison their relationships, they also are jealous and can resort to violence easily if they deem it necessary. These traits can make a very scary person to be around if they are not in control of their emotions. The Scorpio is a sign to be admired if they bring forward their best traits and are aware of their deepest, more negative aspects and learn to regulate them.

As humans display their foremost traits, so do anime characters. They are so human and we can relate to them as such because of the artistry that was put into them by their creators. This gives more depth to each anime we watch and appreciation for the amount of work and the genius of the creation. This also allows us to analyze characters in these ways such as the zodiac signs that they are born under. The characters listed below are those with birthdays between the dates of October 23rd and November 21st and represent the top 10 male Scorpios in anime.

10. Tomoya Okazaki from Clannad

  • Episodes: 23
  • Air Date: October 2007 - March 2008

Tomoya is definitely a little rough around the edges. He skips class and is constantly late to school due to his late night habits. However, when someone near to him is troubled, he is available and dependable for whatever they need. Tomoya is sociable and oblivious despite his appearance. His passionate nature comes out through his relationships with the girls he is close to and he proves to be a true friend to every one of them. These traits earn him a low spot on our list.

9. Ferid Bathory from Owari no Seraph (Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign)

  • Episodes: 12
  • Air Date: April 2015 - June 2015

Ferid’s relationships with others are extremely rocky because of his incessant teasing. While he is incredibly intelligent, he becomes bored easily and likes to pick fights. Unlike most Scorpios, Ferid does not feel much loyalty towards any of his friends or other vampires. He is self-serving and only does things that cater to his own self-interest. These traits make him a volatile individual and a dangerous character. Due to not possessing any of the positive traits of the Scorpio, Ferid Bathory earns a low spot on our list.

8. Makoto Tachibana from Free! (Free! Iwatobi Swim Club)

  • Episodes: 12
  • Air Date: July 2013 - September 2013

Makoto is captain of the Iwatobi High School Swim Club and best friend to its star, Haruka. Makoto is always proving himself to be a true friend to Haruka despite his conflicting views of swimming. Makoto is a force of his own and stands proudly among the other strong swimmers in the Iwatobi Swim Club. He is admirable because of his ability to be there for all of his friends when necessary and is brave when defending them. These traits earn him a spot on our list.

7. Kuga Sakurai from Kaichou wa Maid-sama! (Maid Sama!)

  • Episodes: 26
  • Air Date: April 2010 - September 2010

Kuga is an excellent example of a split personality Scorpio. He strives to be loved in the spotlight as a pop star but his true personality holds darker elements. His politeness is purely self-serving and he does so with the intention of gaining popularity. He is distrusting and easily bored as evidenced with his interactions with Misaki. He has the ability to turn his fun and games violent and does not seem to care who he hurts, making him a very unpredictable character.

6. Armin Arlelt from Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan)

  • Episodes: 25
  • Air Date: April 2013 - September 2013

Armin may seem like one of the weaker characters but he is shown to be an admirable character who will always put others before himself. He is a true friend even when it comes to negative outcomes for himself. He carries his low self-esteem throughout the anime and is often jealous when it comes to other peoples’ relationships. He is brave in his own way even though he is more of a cry-baby and weaker than the other soldiers. These traits earn him a spot on our list of Scorpios.

5. Souma Yukihira from Shokugeki no Souma (Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma)

  • Episodes: 24
  • Air Date: April 2015 - September 2015

Souma Yukihira embodies the positive traits of the Scorpio sign. He is a true friend that would never let anyone he meets be thrown under the bus. That is, if they prove their worth to him. He is passionate about his cooking and stubborn when it comes to his relationship with his father. Souma’s resourcefulness shows through when he first enters Totsuki Academy and he is seen as the underdog with only a few fish to his name. Souma is an excellent example of a Scorpio and a necessary addition to this list.

4. Uro from Karneval

  • Episodes: 13
  • Air Date: April 2013 - June 2013

Uro is an interesting character. He is outwardly respectful and polite towards people above him or of equal station but he is rude towards those who he sees are less than him. His personality is very different depending on who he is talking to. His two personalities make or break a situation. Uro is a very extreme example of a Scorpio because he can portray the brave and trusting side to people he admires and looks up to. However, for those he sees as below him, he becomes violent, secretive and distrusting. This lopsided personality earns him a high spot on our list.

3. Loki Laevatein from Kamigami no Asobi

  • Episodes: 12
  • Air Date: April 2014 - June 2014

Loki is likely the most temperamental male character in Kamigami no Asobi and as he is among a bunch of immortal gods, that is really saying something. He initially comes off as arrogant and tasteless when first introduced. However, as time passes and we grow to understand his true nature and backstory he proves himself a true friend to Thor and Baldur. His loyalty and courageousness shine through when Yui becomes endangered and he chooses to help her rather than allow something terrible to happen to her. These traits earn him a spot near the top of our list because he represents both positive and negative aspects of the Scorpio sign.

2. L Lawliet from Death Note

  • Episodes: 37
  • Air Date: October 2006 - June 2007

L Lawliet is extremely secretive in everything he does. He does not show his face to the world and cloaks himself behind a computer. Despite these traits, he is a genius and the only one that could have caught Light Yamagi. He proves himself resourceful when Light gets the upper hand and is stubborn when he loses a trail. L’s skills of perseverance are truly admirable and earn him a top spot on our list of Scorpios.

1. Sebastian Michaelis from Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler)

  • Episodes: 24
  • Air Date: October 2008 - March 2009

Sebastian Michaelis is quite literally a demon sent from hell so it comes with no surprise that he represents many of the negative aspects of the Scorpio despite his fairly pleasant disposition. After signing a contract with Ciel Phantomhive, he begins his work as a butler. However, due to his unpleasant history we constantly see his more violent side. He is distrusting of many people though his distrust is not often misplaced. Their relationship and contract becomes tricky when more human side of Sebastian is revealed. He is shown to truly care about Ciel and shows himself to be a true friend and honorable when it is necessary. These traits put Ciel towards the top of our list.

Final Thoughts

Scorpios possess many traits that can be admired by the other signs. They are not afraid to stand up for what they believe in and seek to protect those that they are close to. This can make for a very good friend and partner. However, as with all signs Scorpios have their weaknesses that can destroy the relationships that they hold dear. Once doubt slips into their mind, they can become distrusting, jealous and even eventually turn violent if they let it reach that point. It is important to know how to balance your worst impulses to make yourself into a person that you can be proud to be. This list provides some excellent examples of that as well as some characters that do definitely not check their worst impulses.

We hope that you have enjoyed our list of the top 10 male Scorpios in anime. As always, if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to leave them in the comments section below.
