The cold season is upon us, and that means snow will start to fall for those who are lucky — well, it could end up being unlucky if it snows too much. Nonetheless, there should be at least one point in time when there’s the right amount of snow to go outside and play. What’s the best thing to do in the snow, you wonder? What else other than going about frolicking and building snowmen with our favorite characters? Okay, okay, we know that can’t really happen. Still, it’s fun to imagine that happening. Whether it’s enjoying the snow while building a snowman or creating snow to build a snowman, these five manga ice users are the people we want to be with.
5. Toka Irie from Ame no Furu (Candy Flurry)
Toka Irie is one of the (un)fortunate humans bestowed with the power to manifest treats. Irie wields ice cream powers, allowing her to easily make a certain area’s temperature drop. Since Irie’s power literally makes round pieces of frozen cream appear and stack with each other, she’s a pretty good character to build a snowman with. Not only that, but the fact that there’s always the choice to have a few spoonfuls of ice cream available is a welcome addition to the activity. The only downside to being her snowman-making buddy is that she can be pretty wishy-washy. She’s almost always cranky and begging to let off some steam.
4. Monet from One Piece
Monet is one of Caesar Clown’s henchmen in the Punk Hazard arc. She’s a half-bird, half-human Snow Snow Fruit user serving as Caesar’s assistant. However, the reason she belongs in this article is her snow powers. Monet can manipulate snow with ease, especially in closed spaces. She shows this during her fight with Zoro, wherein she easily manifests a new layer of snow just as Zoro cuts through the first layer. With such powers, making a snowman won’t be a problem. Since she also has the ability to fly thanks to her bird wings, the snowman can be as big as you want it to be. Best of all, she can just make it snow indoors if the outside weather isn’t cooperating well.
3. Kyo Nijimura from JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken Part 8: JoJolion (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 8: Jojolion)
This maid of the Higashikata family isn’t just good at her work, but she’s also great at acting. Thanks to her acting skills, she manages to hide her true identity for a long time. Just like most characters in JoJo, Kyo is also a Stand user. Her Stand, Born This Way, manifests as a humanoid riding a motorcycle. The best part is that her Stand produces extremely cold winds that can even freeze the vapor in the air. While Kyo’s power isn’t necessarily useful during the building process, the skills she’s honed during her servitude can easily make up for it. Plus, if utilized properly, Kyo’s Stand can theoretically keep a snowman standing even once winter is over. That’s definitely something we want.
2. Shoto Todoroki from Boku no Hero Academia (My Hero Academia)
If we’re talking about ice powers, then we definitely can’t leave behind our boy Todoroki. After all, this adorably single-minded hero has complete mastery of his ice quirk. Todoroki can easily make big chunks of ice appear for the grand masterpiece, and his fire powers will also come in handy melting and sculpting the ice. The best part is that Todoroki isn’t really the whiny type, unlike a certain spiky-haired bomb maniac that we know. He will undoubtedly follow our commands to his best ability. Whether the work is successful or not, the process will surely be chaotic and fun. That’s what snowman making should be about!
1. Cubchoo from Pocket Monsters Special (Pokémon Adventures)
Cubchoo is the cute teddy-bear looking Pokemon with a constant snot running down its nose. While it can be a bit disgusting, it’s easily masked by its cuteness. Since it’s an ice-type Pokemon, it naturally has ice attacks. However, we don’t really care about that. As long as it’s beside us doing the cute little dance it did in the manga with that adorable smile plastered on its face, we don’t mind doing all the hard work. We’ll even prepare a comfortable seat for its post-performance relaxation. Of course, it’s also a given that we’ll hug, pet, and play with it throughout the whole process. After all, just who in this world can resist Cubchoo’s charms?
Final Thoughts
As the season goes colder, it becomes more tempting to sleep in. But why should we do that if we can play outside? Well, the freezing weather is definitely a justified reason. Nevertheless, that doesn’t mean we can’t imagine having some fun with our favorite manga characters, and it will be better if it happens during our dream anyway. See, hitting two birds with one stone. Of course, this list is nowhere near exhaustive. If you think we’ve missed some characters, don’t hesitate to tell us in the comment section below.
