4. Planetarian: Chiisana Hoshi no Yume (Planetarian)

  • Episodes: 5
  • Aired: July 2016 – August 2016

Earth and humanity are falling towards extinction. Everything has crumbled into destruction. There is silence and no sign of nature or wildlife. As we venture around, we come to a building with a robotic doll, Yumemi, who greets you and invites you to stay. What little population of mankind is left, are a few people who employ themselves as “Junkers”, individuals who scavenge for goods and artifacts in ruins from long ago. As it has been thirty years since Yumemi’s last customer, she is eager to please when Kuzuya enters the vicinity. A reluctant Kuzuya winds up sticking around longer than he previously intended, with her cheerfulness and optimism bringing about solace that hadn’t appeared for quite some time.

In comparison, Planetarian and Clockwork Planet occur long after Earth has ceased to exist. What we would perceive as normal living no longer transpires, with no visible life forms in sight. The animation in both attempts to demonstrate the way Earth would appear utilizing a dark color scheme with pops of bright colors. As this aspect happens in Planetarian and Clockwork, we believe that no matter how bad things can get, there is always hope.

  • Aired: October 2009 – December 2009

As she gazes upon Tomoki, from that moment forth, servant and master experience a ton of craziness and shenanigans. Additionally, Heaven’s Lost Property is recognized for providing a great deal of fan service. It’s divine!

Whether or not Heaven’s Lost Property has more fan service than Clockwork Planet is up for debate. Both stories deal with a young male lead that has little to none experience with the ladies. Once Tomoki from Heaven’s Lost Property, and Naoto from Clockwork Planet are exposed to their female counterparts who drop in from the sky, they are overwhelmed with raging hormones. Furthermore, as these gals have their sights set on them, their loyalty for each other sticks through each episode!
