Crunchyroll Expo Australia 2022 Cosplay Showcase!
Kicking the day off at the ANIPLEX Sword Art Online 10th anniversary exhibit, we saw this amazing cosplay of Asuna in her original Aincrad outfit! That outfit is truly worthy of The Flash herself!
Marin Kitagawa from My Dress-Up Darling proved popular this year, with a few cosplayers opting for couples cosplays, or going all-out and cosplaying as one of the characters that Marin cosplays in the show itself.
As expected, Genshin Impact remained as popular a choice as ever at Crunchyroll Expo. The night before the expo, Genshin Impact’s developer, miHoYo, announced their partnership with anime studio Ufotable, to produce an anime series based on the game—so now Genshin Impact is officially an anime, as well as a game!
Regardless of what you think about Genshin Impact, its gorgeous character designs have given rise to some truly inspired cosplays. Just look at the details on these outfits!
@pquilly_cos pulls off an amazing Dabi, with @dev.cosplay as Shigaraki, both from My Hero Academia
@archi.exe.cos promises us it’s red food dye, not blood, in her Toga cosplay!
We saw plenty of My Hero Academia cosplays throughout the day, including this friend group working together to pull off the series’ popular villains—Dabi, Shigaraki, and Toga. We’re really impressed at the quality of all three of these cosplays!
It wouldn’t be a con without a few fan-favorite cosplays! We were delighted to see Saber from Fate/stay night; an amazing Violet Evergarden cosplay; and a picture-perfect Zero Two from Darling in the Franxx. There were also plenty of Spy x Family cosplays around the Crunchyroll Expo, with great attention to detail in Yor’s assassin outfit!
Jujutsu Kaisen was a runaway success in 2020, and fans are definitely hyped for the second season of the anime. We snapped a picture of Nobara Kugasaki and the famously-silent Inumaki, too!
Crunchyroll Expo Australia had a dedicated Jujutsu Kaisen cosplay meetup on the second day of the event—a great opportunity to meet like-minded cosplayers and talk about the show!
@halfgreave from Twitter is the famous bird-brained Hololiver, Mumei!
Peeking around the artist area, we found Sakura Miku representing a beautiful store of charms and stickers, and elsewhere in the hall, we found Mumei from Hololive!
Although we loved every cosplay at Crunchyroll Expo, the Chainsaw Man cosplays were among the best of the day, and this triple-threat of Aki, Angel Devil, and Reze looked the part perfectly.
But if we had to give out an award, it would be to the incredible IzzyForge with this amazing Chainsaw Devil cosplay (seen at the top of the article), complete with arm chainsaws and a full chainsaw head. Just look at this incredible cosplay!
