Finally! An Excellent Game-Inspired Anime, Hold the Isekai—Suppose a Kid from the Last Dungeon Boonies Moved to a Starter Town?

Lloyd Belladonna was the weakest boy in his village, but he has great ambition to become a hero. To achieve his dreams, he heads off to a big city to become a soldier and begin a journey to becoming what he wants to be. What Loyd does not realize, is that the small town he is from is a mythical town of strength and legend from ages past!

We hope you’re ready for the comedy and adventure that take place in one of this season’s silliest new productions, Tatoeba Last Dungeon Mae no Mura no Shounen ga Joban no Machi de Kurasu Youna Monogatari (Suppose a Kid from the Last Dungeon Boonies moved to a starter town?).

What you’re going to love about it

A Harem of Hotties, All Strange and Unusual

Lloyd Belladonna, the main character, is a teenage boy with a sincere desire to become stronger and wants to become a soldier to do so. His loli of a village chief sends Lloyd off to become a soldier, to indulge her own Lloyd-in-costumes fantasies. Along the way to achieving this goal, he becomes acquainted with what becomes a harem, and everyone supports Lloyd in his dreams and helps him where they can!

With his adorable chief and Marie, the witch with whom he stays, Loyd makes a home in his new town. When he tries to enlist in the military, he meets a girl with a curse, which Lloyd accidentally cures in moments. Now she believes their meeting is destiny! With a few more additions, Lloyd has unknowingly become the center of attention for many ladies!

Video Game Inspiration, But Nobody Dies in the First Two Minutes

For a few years now, the Isekai genre has come with the trend of killing someone in the first few minutes so they can start their new life in another world. This idea was really innovative when it was introduced, but it is so popular now that viewers have started wondering why someone has to die for their adventure-in-another-world anime to begin. With Suppose a Kid from the Last Dungeon Boonies moved to a starter town?, it is back to basics with a refreshing series that doesn’t have weird deaths in the introduction.

Other than the title’s reference to games, the story has several other elements that give it that feel. The characters have a clear Starter Town/Final Boss path ahead of them. Additionally, some of the music and occasional sound effects sound like they come from early video games. It really adds to the experience!

Comedy, Layered on Thick

If you came here for hi-brow humor, you would be disappointed. For starters, Lloyd does not recognize anything lower than a demon lord as a monster and calls the rest “pests and animals.” What’s even better is that he treats them that way! He carelessly flicks away house-sized locusts or tosses them away like someone might toss a bug outside. Lloyd is pretty clueless when it comes to context clues and his own strength.

Last Dungeon is also full of running gags that just keep getting better! After being called a loli-grandma one too many times, Lloyd’s village chief puts the curse of small misfortunes on the witch. An episode later, this becomes the curse of medium misfortunes. We don’t know where this will be at the end of the season, but you can trust we’ll still be watching!

A Little Bit of other Popular Favorites

Throughout this anime, you will see similarities to other favorite shows that have become extremely popular in recent years. If you enjoyed Wise Man’s Grandchild, Lloyd also grows up in an isolated environment that leads to misunderstanding and comedy when he enters society. It has a very similar situation to That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, with a protagonist that has no idea they give off a terrifying aura just by existing and are really sweet characters behind all that scary vibe. Last Dungeon takes some fun parts from other popular favorites and executes on them in its own comical way!

Final Thoughts

Suppose a Kid from the Last Dungeon Boonies moved to a starter town? is the story of a sweet and innocent boy accidentally kicking ass and taking names without even realizing it.
