One day, Hikari is assigned to clean the school pool with another student named Iroha Igarashi, a girl with a personality Hikari despises. However, Iroha is friendly to Hikari, even sticking up for him when bullies pick on him. After a while, Hikari sheds his misconceptions about Iroha, and it appears that she may be his first real-life 3D girlfriend! Where’s a player’s guide when you need it?!

3D Kanojo and Momokuri both have a vast and intriguing cast of characters that contribute to an exciting storyline. As our bands of characters unite to overcome challenging obstacles, their combined strengths and personalities are some of the reasons why they get along so well, flowing effortlessly. 3D Kanojo and Momokuri are both heartwarming, feel-good anime that are similar in theme, in that the couples are made up of mismatched personalities. As each features a doting female and a rigid male, we observe that their differences do not make them any less unique than other token romance anime couples, but make them even more special and spectacular.

2. You Raise Me Up

Both touching and heartwarming series, 3D Kanojo and Momokuri show that after couples overcome the challenging obstacles of relationships, the result proves love to be a bittersweet necessity. Although Iroha and Momo have two vastly different personalities, the quality that they both demonstrate is the determination to make their partner happy. When our compassionate and caring characters are presented with a seemingly impossible challenge, particularly elements that are unfamiliar to them, they are willing to step to the plate to prevent harm to Hikari and Yuki.

Akkun to Kanojo is a romantic comedy following the story of childhood friends Atsuhiro "Akkun" Kagari and Non "Nontan" Katagiri who are also a couple. Akkun is an extremely tsundere boyfriend, harsh, cold, and often moody towards Nontan, but this is how he shows her that he cares for her. His obsessive, stalker ways go over Nontan’s head, as she thinks that his actions are adorable. Akkun to Kanojo is a high school love comedy about a wonderful couple, whose quirks may appear peculiar and eccentric, but are nothing less than their norm.

Major Similarities Between Momokuri and Akkun to Kanojo

1. Why Are You So Obsessed With Me?

In Akkun to Kanojo and Momokuri, Nontan and Momo find Akkun and Yuki’s hands-on, stalker-ish ways adorable, countering the behavior with a “whatever floats your boat” kind of vibe. When we look past Akkun and Yuki’s extreme approach, we see the essence of their puppy love relationship. Nontan and Momo’s intentions are demonstrated throughout, enduring their assertive behavior as their SOs only aim to keep them happy. Although Akkun and Yuki have a neurotic approach in showing how much they like their partner, we come to learn that everyone has various ways of showing affection.

2. Short and Sweet

Akkun to Kanojo and Momokuri have similar animation utilizing a pastel color palette and an airy art style. The method of storytelling is also identical with episodes shorter in duration than the average anime episode length. As the characters share their experiences as a couple with the viewers, we can distinguish the same traits and premise in each story with scenarios that differ episode by episode. These two titles are similar in that they exist in a high school environment dealing with romances, long-awaited confessions, and infatuations.

As we part ways, it’s important to remember that the most remarkable thing about cute mismatched couples anime is that they are so entertaining, imaginative, adventurous, and exciting.
