Welcome to the second installment of Anime Horoscopes. Let's dive right in - the next sign up is Libra! The symbol most commonly associated with this sign is a balanced scale - which pretty much sums up the Libra ethos. Libras do their best to orchestrate balance in all arenas of their life - from their workplace to their social circles.
Libras are valuable friends and partners. Whether they are extroverted or introverted, they are undeniably charming and diplomatic individuals. However, they can be people-pleasers at their worst, and at times they can be manipulative. Without further delay, let's take a look at Libra characters from anime.
10) Mink (DRAMAtical Murder)
Birthday: September 26th
Mink is one of the main characters in this series, as the charming leader of a group of ex-convicts called Scratch. His outlook and actions lead others to think of him as ruthless, and hedonistic. On the outside, he initially appears to be cold and unfeeling. However, there are many Libra qualities that he exhibits aside from the classic charisma this sign is known for.
His Libra inclinations make him a natural leader, a role in which Libras excel. They specialize in using their heightened intelligence to reach solutions, to the great benefit of their organizations. His intimidating appearance is no coincidence, either - Libras care very much about how they are perceived, and therefore are meticulous in their presentation of themselves to others.
9) Silica (Sword Art Online)
Birthday: October 4th
Silica is one of the players featured in Sword Art Online. Despite her age, she is a competent fighter. She was the first player to successfully obtain a Feathered Little Dragon, which helped her become one of the better known Beast Tamers in the game. In typical Libra fashion, her social life is important to her, and she values her friends in the game very highly.
Libras enjoy the finer things in life, this is no secret. Because of this, one of the major dangers that this sign can fall into is their magnetic attraction to status, and the vanity that comes with it. When Silica's achievements propelled her to fame, she began to develop a bit of an inflated ego. However, since Libras are generally grounded people, she was eventually forced to recognize this and change her ways.
8) Hijiribe Ruri (Durarara!!)
Birthday: September 27th
Ruri Hijiribe is an idol by day, though she might seem an unlikely one. It makes a bit more sense when you realize that this quiet girl got her start as a make-up artist. A bit of an oddball, she also has a fascination with the macabre, and horror films. This isn't so strange when you find out that she moonlights as a serial killer.
Ruri is one of the more introverted Libras on this list, however that doesn't change her powerful attraction to fame - as she achieves recognition for her efforts as a musical artist and a serial killer. As a Libra she is able to use her strengths to juggle a double life in two separate spotlights with relative ease.
7) Misaki Ayuzawa (Kaichou wa Maid-sama!)
Birthday: September 29th
Misaki Ayuzawa was the student council president at Seika High School. She was a strict and unforgiving leader, earning her the nickname "Demon President." However, she is more than your average model student. In order to make a living, she spends her after-school hours secretly working at a Maid Cafe.
Naturally falling into the role of a leader as Misaki quickly does, can be expected of Libras. She is also a top student, and very concerned with how she appears to her fellow students. Spoilers withheld, at the end of the series she winds up working in an industry where only Libras can truly dominate.
6) Masayoshi Hazama (Samurai Flamenco)
Birthday: September 29th
Masayoshi Hazama works as a successful male model, but has a bit of a justice complex and a life-long fascination with super heroes. It is this enduring passion that leads him to stray from his comfortable life of luxury and pick up a double life as a Samurai Flamenco.
Masayoshi is no stranger to the spotlight; he is a model after all. In fact, one could argue that his Libra charm is his primary advantage, especially early on in the series. Masayoshi is a bit naive at times, much to his detriment but somehow seems to always come out on top, even if it is by the skin of his teeth. He places people above all else, showcasing a classic Libra strength in his vigilante endeavors.
5) Kotoko Aihara (Itazura Na Kiss)
Birthday: September 28th
Kotoko Aihara has fallen in love with the smartest boy at school. He may be out of her league, but Kotoko won't be easily deterred and with a resolve of steel, will try her very hardest to win his heart. However, her plans are complicated when an earthquake gives her no other place to stay but his house.
Kotoko is another Libra that relies on her charm to get by. On the outside, she is clumsy, and a bit of a space cadet. However, she has an inner warmth and kindness that others are readily drawn to. In addition to her charisma, she is extremely idealistic and a bit of a dreamer - something that is true of many of the members of this star sign.
4) Karin Maaka (Chibi Vampire)
Birthday: October 13th
Karin Makaa isn't your average vampire. She's what's called a reverse vampire, which means she actually gives blood instead of draining it. This also means she doesn't have any of the typical vampire aversions to things like sunlight or water. Which might be kind of cool if it didn't mean having a gushing nose-bleed every time she felt embarrassed.
Karin's physical appearance is something that earns her quite a bit of attention, as Libras are well known for their attractiveness. She is also extremely sensitive to social pressures - her condition is exacerbated when she is around human suffering. Many Libra's can't bear seeing others upset and in pain, and Karin is no exception to this trend.
3) Sakata Gintoki (Gintama)
Birthday: October 10th
Sakata Gintoki is the protagonist of Gintama. He is a formidable samurai, and skilled leader. In addition to his tactical prowess, Gintoki has a strong sense of loyalty and compassion to the people closest to him, putting them above organizations and institutions he is involved with. He provides a significant amount of comedic relief to the viewer throughout the series, and is a charming scoundrel you can't help but love.
Indulgence is a common Libra vice, and Gintoki often goes too far with things like alcohol and sweets. In addition, he certainly appears less organized than many Libras tend to be. Luckily for him, he is cunning and resourceful and almost always finds a way to make ends meet. His charm is seemingly endless and he also utilizes this ability to attract and persuade people, to his advantage.
2) Maximillion Pegasus (Yu-Gi-Oh!)
Birthday: October 8th
Maximillion Pegasus is the genius behind the Duel Monsters Card game. He is extremely intelligent and calculates his actions almost as meticulously as his outward appearance. A madman with an affinity for cartoons, he acts as one of the most memorable antagonists in the series.
The dark side of this sign is exemplified by Pegasus. Libras have a knack for using their social prowess to achieve their goals, and he does this through manipulation. Pegasus is also extremely narcissistic - another pitfall Libras can fall into if they aren't careful with themselves. Pegasus is a typical person born under this sign, in all the worst ways.
1) Naruto Uzumaki (NARUTO)
Birthday: October 10th
Naruto Uzumaki is a young shinobi pledging his allegiance to the Konohagakure. He needs little introduction - as one of the most well recognized faces in anime, Naruto may not be the most typical member of this star sign, but is a Libra nonetheless.
He carries himself in an over-the-top, unapologetic manner that only someone with the Libra-endowed charm to back it could pull off. Throughout the series, this same charm draws people towards him like moths to a flame. In part, this is because of his strong values on things like friendship and people - another Libra trait. His need for attention and admiration is overwhelmingly Libra - a common flaw of this sign.
Libra characters span many different genres of anime, while displaying a common thread of traits. While a star sign does not necessarily dictate who a person is, it is certainly interesting to use it as a tool for introspection - and it's always fun. It can sometimes be surprising to see what characters share your sign. If you're a Libra, we would certainly love to hear what you thought of this list in the comments below!
