Nanatsu no Taizai Preview / Plot (No Spoilers)

The Seven Deadly Sins is an anime about the mighty Hawk, the talking pig, champion and leader of the Seven Deadly Sins. From the first time you see Hawk you know that The Seven Deadly Sins is an anime for the ages.

Hawks adventures starts out when a maiden comes into Boar Hat, a bar that he runs together with Meliodas. The maiden is the princess of the Kingdom of Liones, Elizabeth Liones. Elizabeth was looking for the vile villains who tried to overthrow the kingdom ten years ago, the Seven Deadly Sins. Hawk could have been one of them, but he chose to stay out of it. Meliodas, on the other hand, was the leader of said band of ruffians.

Elizabeth gets Hawk to help her search for the other six members of the Seven Deadly Sins and Meliodas decides to come along. Along the journey to help Elizabeth, Hawk foils the plans of several Holy Knights, discovering an evil plot in the making along the way. But, what is at the heart of this plot and can our brave Hawk defeat them before it’s too late? Guess you’ll have to watch it to see.

Who does Nanatsu no Taizai cater to?

The Seven Deadly Sins takes place in a world of knights, fairies, demons and adventure… does that sound familiar? It sounds somewhat like Hunter x Hunter, doesn’t it? Those of you who like Hunter x Hunter would love The Seven Deadly Sins. However, The Seven Deadly Sins is not always PG13. One of the main characters is a major pervert, always grabbing onto bxxbs and rumps.

The Seven Deadly Sins is Hunter x Hunter with both Master Roshi and Jiraiya mixed together and molded into one of the main characters.

What's so appealing about this piece of work.

What is it about The Seven Deadly Sins that stands out and makes you want to watch episode after episode until you’ve finished it? I would have to say it’s the laughter mixed into the hard action. One moment you’re laughing at something Hawk has done and the next you are on the edge of your seat, watching a battle in between two of the main characters.

The plot is constant and knows where it’s going. Unlike other anime that draw you in and play with your heart, this anime has a solid plot that doesn’t dolly around with filler episodes like another popular anime, cough cought, naruto, cough cough.

Nanatsu No Taizai Main Characters List

Voice Actor :Misaki Kuno

Sir Hawk is the talking pig and leader of the Seven Deadly Sins, even though he is not one of the seven. He is relentless and always goes out of his way to help those he cares about. He is able to pull out strength that is hidden deep inside of him and is able to knock down doors in a single charge.

Just like the Seven Deadly Sins, Hawk has a mark on his back, in the shape of a four leafed clover. Other than that, he is a two feet tall pink talking pig, nothing much out of the ordinary.

Voice Actor :Yuki Kaji

The man with the sin of wrath tattooed upon his shoulder in the shape of a dragon. The one who thinks he is the leader of the Seven Deadly Sins. Meliodas is the strongest among of the Seven Deadly Sins and the most perverted character in The Seven Deadly Sins.

Meliodas is the cook and barkeep of the Boar Hat. Though, you would have to be crazy to try his food. His cooking requires work… or an exorcism. The only one who can handle his bad cooking is his leader, Hawk.

Almost forgot to mention this. Meliodas looks like a kid, so he gets away with those groping hands of his. Most women don’t even mind his hands… guess he has the demons touch.

Voice Actor :Tatsuhisa Suzuki

The second strongest member of The Seven Deadly Sins has the symbol of the fox just above his waist that symbolizes the sin of greed. Other than his tattoo, the only mark on his body is a scar running down the side of his face and neck.

When we first see Ban, he is imprisoned in a dark keep with spikes and swords stuck through his body. In all rights he should have been dead. Soon we realize that he is alive and well. Though, after that, he spends most of the early episodes wearing an apron, much to Hawks approval. Soon he is able to get some clothes that suit him, true terminator style.

Elizabeth Liones

Voice Actor :Sora Amamiya

Elizabeth Liones is not a fighter nor is she strong. Elizabeth is the third princess of the Kingdom of Liones. When her father falls ill and the Holy Knights try to take control of the kingdom, Elizabeth sets out to find the only ones able to help her. She sets out to find the Seven Deadly Sins. That would be alright, but Elizabeth is a little idiotic when it comes to common sense.

Elizabeth has a good heart and a strong will. When she set out to find the Seven Deadly Sins, she didn’t know how much of a journey she set out on. She is as powerful as the Seven Deadly Sins, though her power is not in strength of body but of mind and heart.

Nanatsu no Taizai Review

Since I started watching The Seven Deadly Sins, I was drawn into the action, the comedy and the little bit of echii that was mixed into it.

The Seven Deadly Sins starts off as a comical anime and it keeps it roots throughout all of the episodes. Hawk might not be the main character, or the leader of The Seven Deadly Sins, but he is always there to give us a laugh if the tension in the anime gets too much. When Ban finds out that to get his love back he would have to kill his best friend, Meliodas, Hawk is there to try and talk him out of it. Hawk fails, but he tried. He is one brave pig. Hawk is there as a comical relief tool, he doesn’t have a major plot line, but he is one of the best characters.

The characters with the main plot lines, Meliodas, King, Elizabeth and Ban, intertwine with one another.

The earliest interaction is in between King and a younger Daine, the giant woman. King had lost his memory and was entranced by this giant girl. He made her first set of clothes then he left to return to the Fairy King’s Forest, his home, after finally getting his memories back… several hundred years later.

During the time King stayed with young Daine, Ban was in the Fairy King’s Forest with King’s sister, Elaine. Ban originally went to the forest to gain the gift of immortality from the Fountain of Youth, Only to run up against this little girl, the guardian of said fountain. Ban fell in love with this little lady and wanted not for the gift of immortality any more. However that curse was given to him as he was dying after saving the little guardian. He was unable to save King’s sister, his love which drove him mad.

When King returned home, he found it in ruin and his sister dead. He left on a journey to find the man who killed his sister. This all happened before the Seven Deadly Sins teamed up. When we first meet King in the anime, he had finally realized how Ban got his immortality and he went out for vengeance.

As I am writing this review, we have meet five of the seven members of the Seven Deadly Sins and it feels like the end of the anime is soon, since the main bad guy we’ve seen is almost defeated. I hope they don’t pull a Dragon Ball Z move and have him transform seven or eight times before Meliodas can kill him.

1. Seven Deadly Sins

The Seven Deadly Sins are a group of seven powerful knights who, ten years ago, were framed for a horrific crime that they didn’t comment. In the following years, they parted ways and lost contact. Each one of them possesses a power and will that surpassed all of the other Holy Knights. Even though they were wrongly accused, they still come together to help the Elizabeth when she comes calling for their help.

2. Holy Knights

The Holy Knights are a powerful group of knights in the Kingdom of Liones. They were set up to fight the Demon War that the prophecies foretell. Some high up in the Holy Knights try to make this prophecy happen, which starts the action in The Seven Deadly Sins.

3. Demons

The Demons are still an unknown quantity in The Seven Deadly Sins. We see their hands in the Holy Knights new powers. We also see what happened to King’s sister, Elaine, when we see Ban’s past. The Demons are the main bad guys in The Seven Deadly Sins.

The Seven Deadly Sins is a new anime, but don’t let that scare you away. New isn’t always bad. If you like action and comedy, you’ll love this anime. This is defiantly a must-watch anime and I would rank it beside Full Metal Alchemist and Hunter x Hunter; Full Metal Alchemist for the quality of the animation and Hunter x Hunter for the pure adventure that this anime enthralls.

If you haven’t had the chance to watch The Seven Deadly Sins, take an afternoon off and pop some popcorn. You won’t regret it.

Now, it is time for me to catch up on this anime myself. There is a new episode out that I must see. Later all.
