You know an anime is good when it still lingers in your heart long after you finished it. For us at Honey’s Anime, it was Tonikaku Kawaii (TONIKAWA: Over the Moon for You), which is still keeping us warm and fuzzy this winter. The anime with its light colors, adorable characterization, and soft themes just swept us off our feet, making us fall in love with this show from the very beginning. Watching Nasa and Tsukasa unconventionally get married before falling hopelessly in love was promising simply because of how important this responsibility and commitment was to them. It sounds strange at first to get married without getting to know someone but Nasa and Tsukasa have proved that you don’t need to always know someone fully to fall in love with them. All it takes is a little bit of fate and instinct to know if this person is the right one for you and everything else will fall into place with your hard work and dedication.
In this article, let’s take a deeper look at the relationship between the two adorable protagonists, Nasa and Tsukasa Yuzaki and how perfectly adorable and comfortable their relationship is. We’ll be analyzing their relationship from the beginning till the end of the anime and maybe somewhere along the way, we’ll learn a thing or two about love from this kawaii couple.
Love at First Accident
It all started with an accident. When Nasa first met Tsukasa, he was so captivated by how cute she looked that he did not notice the truck that was heading towards him which Tsukasa saves him from. While it may seem that Nasa’s love for Tsukasa might be a little shallow because of his love for how cute she looks, Nasa goes above and beyond to prove that his feelings are much deeper despite how young and inexperienced he is with love. It may also seem that he is in love with her only because she saved him but Nasa tells Chitose that he doesn’t love her because she saved him. He loves her because it was through that accident that he met her. It is important to him only because it was his first moment of meeting her. It was simply the starting point that led to happiness for him with Tsukasa.
Over the Moon for You
When Nasa and Tsukasa start living together, they realize they’re different people—Nasa loves history and technology while Tsukasa loves modern cafes and watching tv. But this doesn’t lead to discord between the two. Instead, they choose to compromise and find joy in doing everything together. When Chitose tells him that he doesn’t know anything about her, Nasa accepts that. He also accepts that they like different things. However, he finds a lot of happiness just in her company. From normal things like shopping for a tv or futon together to elaborate trips to Kyoto, everything becomes special and memorable for the two of them because they are with each other. A photo is usually taken to commemorate something special and Tsukasa says that she wants to take a picture of their love every day because every single second she spends with him is worthy enough to be recorded forever.
Tonikaku Kawaii
As the two fall in love with each other, one thing they never compromise on, no matter how embarrassing it is, is communication. They choose to be honest and truthful about what they want to do with each other without being overbearing. Nasa wants to do all sorts of embarrassing couple things with Tsukasa but every single time, he gets her consent. On the flip side, Tsukasa is also embarrassed but would not hesitate to let the world know that Nasa is hers alone like we saw in the gaming episode. As Nasa skillfully put it, “You don’t marry someone because it’s proven that you’re in love. You marry them to prove your love for them.” The two want nothing other than to spend the rest of their lives showering each other with care and affection, showing how much they mean to each other and loving each other till the end.
Final Thoughts
Nasa and Tsukasa, while different in most things, have one thing in common: their love for each other and how much they find their significant other kawaii. It seemed like they got married hastily but we at Honey’s Anime think that in only 12 episodes, they proved their love for each other through their marriage by committing to make each other happy and love each other till the very end. Every relationship needs a first step and Nasa and Tsukasa did not hesitate for even a single moment to take that step together. After all, if you had only a 0.0000034% chance of meeting your soulmate, would you hesitate?
