Our favorite nerdy otakus, Virgos have their birthday month between August 23 and September 22 and we've picked the best female anime characters born under this sign to update our list! Fastidious, responsible, in touch with nature, and with great attention to detail, Virgos are the healers of the Zodiac. Sometimes they might use their observational skills for morally grey purposes, but mostly they try to do good. Let's take a look!
5. Sayaka Miki from Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica (Puella Magi Madoka Magica)
Sayaka is the first to make a pact with Kyuubey because she wants her crush to get well again, and play music. She doesn't know that her pact with Kyuubey is much darker than she thinks – her dream to save her friend and do good as a magical girl is crushed under Kyuubey's master plan. Sayaka is an honest and courageous person, who, in her desire to help, puts herself in the toughest spot.
4. Isabela from Yakusoku no Neverland (The Promised Neverland)
Now, this is one we didn't expect. However, the more we think of it, the more it makes sense. Isabela did not start out as downright evil, but she had to adapt and survive in a society where monsters have the upper hand and human roles are limited to prey, mother, and grandmother. Isabela is sharp, perceptive, caring, but also cold and calculating. She was the perfect Mother to all children, and she also raised them to be perfect meals for the monsters, gaining a reputation for creating top produce..!
3. Ena Saitou from Yuru Camp△ (Laid-Back Camp)
Ena Saitou is a cheerful girl who is not joining for all the camping trips, but she still is super prepared when she does. She even gets a mini tent and camping supplies for her cute pet dog! Ena likes teasing Nadeshiko, but she also deeply cares about her friends, frequently checking on them when they are traveling.
2. Mimosa Vermillion from Black Clover
Mimosa is a sweet young woman and a powerful Magic Knight from the Golden Dawn squad. She uses plant magic, a power very fitting to a Virgo. She can cast powerful attacks but often takes a defensive or healing role in a fight. Mimosa has strong values, as she decides to join the Golden Dawn squad instead of the Crimson Lions, where most of her family belongs. She wants to gain things with her own effort, instead of relying on nepotism. Her kind and smiley demeanor are genuine, yet she also has a sharp tongue when she notices that something is not right.
1. Hanako Koyanagi from Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii (Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku)
Hanako Koyanagi made it to the top of our list because of her many Virgo-esque traits: she looks cool, in control, is excellent at her job, and at the same time, she is a devoted otaku, where she excels even at sewing her own cosplay, and crossdressing as her favorite BL characters. Hanako is strong and opinionated, but she also shows grace.
Final Thoughts
And there you have them, our top female Virgo anime characters this year! From perfect businesswomen hiding an otaku side to strong magicians with plant magic, and from caring camping companions to observant evil masterminds, we have a wide array of female Virgo characters that made it to our list. Which one was the biggest surprise? Let us know in the comments below and thanks for reading!
Initially, Virgos seem like perfect individuals. They strive for perfection but in turn, they can have expectations of themselves that are unrealistic. Virgos are generally the most hardworking of the zodiac signs. They make good companions because of their inherent loyalty and their practicality makes them the ideal candidate for most jobs. As with all zodiac signs though, they do have their setbacks. Virgos have the tendency to overwork themselves. They are generally shy as well which can lead them to not take certain opportunities. By being able to overcome these setbacks, Virgos are able to help lead us to a better and brighter future.
Just like humans, we are able to analyze anime characters and compare them to how well their personality matches the sign that they are born under. This also allows us as an audience to appreciate the amount of work that was put into the anime that we know and love today. The admirable girls listed below are the ones that we have chosen that most closely align with the Virgo traits and bring them to life in their respective anime.
10. Stephanie Dola from No Game, No Life
- Episodes: 12
- Air Date: April 2014 - June 2014
Stephanie Dola is certainly not the smartest character on this list, in fact her ditziness is renowned. However, because she is the daughter of the king she does have a significant amount of influence. While she may not be the most talented, she proves herself a loyal ally to Shiro and Sora. This ditzy princess earns herself a low score on our list of the top female Virgos due to her lack of book smarts.
9. Ami Nekota from Kamisama Kiss (Kamisama Hajimemashita)
- Episodes: 13
- Air Date: October 2012 - December 2012
Ami presents us with a cute exterior and her personality does not challenge that. She is often seen crying or complaining to Nanami. These traits are uncharacteristic of Virgos. Coupled with the fact that Ami is not incredibly bright makes her a slightly unappealing character for us as viewers. Since Virgos come in all shapes and sizes, we included Ami on this list however, she is definitely not the type of Virgo you should strive to be and earns her a low spot on our list.
8. Manako from Monster Musume: Everyday Monster Girls (Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou)
- Episodes: 12
- Air Date: July 2015 - September 2015
Manako is hindered by her inability to communicate effectively. Her extremely shy personality consistently causes problems in her daily life and she believes that everyone hates her because of her singular eye. While she is loyal to her friends, her depression and shyness get in the way of her developing relationships. Manako is extremely critical of her appearance and this dominates how we are able to see her as a character. She comes off as vain because of her obsession with how people view her and this makes her difficult to place into the Virgo list. While Manako is not incredibly dumb, because of her lack of concern with anything involving book smarts, she does not come off as smart as others on this list. This is why she earns a spot on the bottom of our list.
7. Hange Zoe from Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin)
- Episodes: 25
- Air Date: April 2013 - September 2013
Hange does not exhibit the general personality of a Virgo. She displays every emotion to its fullest which makes her come off as rather inconsistent. Her job as a scientist is represented in everything she does and allows her to show off her knowledge to those around her. She comes off as a little arrogant and smarter than everyone else, but that is because it truly is the case. She is the perfect Virgo when she demonstrates her brainiac ways. Hange earns a lower spot on our list because of her outgoing and strange personality that does not quite along with the typical Virgo.
6. Yui from Angel Beats!
- Episodes: 13
- Air Date: April 2010 - June 2010
Yui puts up a ditzy exterior. Her bubbly and outgoing personality make the viewer initially believe that she is nothing more than an airhead. She is actually quite intelligent though and often calls the other characters “morons” because of their inability to grasp certain concepts. Yui is an admirable Virgo and her dark past gives her character more depth than we first see. These traits earn her a rightful spot on our list of top Virgos.
5. Temari from Naruto
- Episodes: 220
- Air Date: October 2002- February 2007
Temari may not be the smartest person around but she is definitely not dumb. She is not afraid
to speak her mind and favors peace above all else. Unlike most Virgos, Temari does not have
the quiet and reserved nature that they usually present but is rather a force to be reckoned
with and does not mince her words. She proves to be a loyal friend and comrade, particularly
once the wars start and she is not only kind to those on her side but those on the opposing side as well. While Temari is not the most bookish of the Virgos on this list, she is an admirable
character in her own right.
4. Nene Odagiri from Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches (Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo)
- Episodes: 12
- Air Date: April 2015 - June 2015
Nene is more of a tsundere character than others on this list which ultimately puts her at a disadvantage for her Virgo status. However, she is an overachiever as evidenced by her position as treasurer on the student council and vice president in the club. She can achieve anything that she sets her mind to but tends to put others before herself. Nene proves to be a loyal friend and intelligent comrade earning herself a much deserved spot on our list.
3. Rio Nakamura from Assassination Classroom (Ansatsu Kyoushitsu)
- Episodes: 22
- Air Date: January 2015 - June 2015
This genius rightfully belonged with the misfits of class 3-E. Her brains are nothing to shrug at, it was only due to pure laziness and the hope for normality that she does not maintain a more dignified spot in her school. She is outgoing but has trouble making friends because of her dirty mind. Despite her teasing though, she is loyal and useful when she deems it necessary. Rio proves herself time and time again. Rio is also shown to care deeply for her classmates and will put herself in harm’s way to help them. This girl is an admirable Virgo with a little discord thrown in.
2. Amy Mizuno from Sailor Moon (Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon)
- Episodes: 46
- Air Date: March 1992 - February 1993
We all know Amy Mizuno as the brain behind the Sailors. More commonly known as Sailor Mercury, this girl is much more intimidating than she initially appears. Her knowledge of math and science is admirable and common for a Virgo. While she expects a lot of herself, she sets realistic goals. She is able to balance her traits as a Virgo and they make her arguably the most valuable member of the team. These traits put her towards the top of our list of the top female Virgos.
1. Mei Aihara from Citrus
- Episodes: 12
- Air Date: January 2018 - March 2018
As student council president and the granddaughter of the headmaster, Mei knows that she must push herself. She constantly gets top marks and while she is not incredibly sociable, she gets her point across with several well-chosen but icy words. When someone comes along that threatens Mei’s perfect world and vision of herself, she immediately rejects them. While many Virgos are not known for their cold demeanor, their shyness can come off as disinterest or aloofness. Mei Aihara is an excellent example of almost all the traits of the Virgo. Her hardworking attitude is exhausting to watch and can even push Mei to the point of sickness.
Final Thoughts
There are many traits that can be admired about Virgos. They are smart but they can be hindered by their shyness. These loyal individuals are people who would make great partners in business as well as your personal life. They have extremely high expectations of themselves and will expect no less of you as well. Because of this, they do not like to be disappointed and will lead you into a future that will be better for both of you. Any zodiac sign can hold amazing traits and be fantastic individuals, it is how you put your positive traits to good use and balance you negative ones that allows you to be the best that you can possibly be for those and those you choose to surround yourself with.
