Tsukimichi –Moonlit Fantasy– Just Pulled a That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Move

Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu (Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy-) is one of many isekai anime this season. Even though it utilizes a few common tropes, it’s done a good job at world-building and providing quality entertainment. An overpowered protagonist and town-building aren’t really new concepts when it comes to isekai anime. In fact, Moonlit Fantasy reminds us of another anime. That series has a protagonist that is overpowered, feared by humans, and is creating a town of monsters. Yes, we’re referring to That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. Not only that, Moonlit Fantasy has just done something grim, and it’s something that That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime has already done.

Bad, Bad Humans!

If there’s one thing That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime has reminded us, it’s that humans are pretty scummy. During her battle against the allied forces of the Farmas Kingdom, Shion, one of Rimuru’s greatest companions, dies as she does her best not to harm any human as per Rimuru’s instruction. The humans, of course, don’t give a damn about Shion being considerate. They exploit that kindness to take her life instead. Something similar has happened in Moonlit Fantasy’s 10th episode.

Being mistaken as thieves, Makoto and the gang are chased by two self-proclaimed guardians. As they are running, they meet a bunch of adventurers, who are apparently really trying to steal from the field. Makoto being the good guy that he is, he asks Tomoe to send them to the illusory city. Towards the end of the episode, however, we see the adventurers’ heinous smiles. The next thing we know, Tomoe has already collapsed and is vomiting blood.

According to her, something bad has happened to her offshoot. Since they are connected, she also feels the damage. With the adventurers’ mug smile and their demeanor, it’s almost certain that they’re the culprits behind this. For what reason, we are not yet certain. What we do know is that humans are vile creatures.

What Does This Entail?

Even though Tomoe’s offshoot's condition isn’t confirmed yet, it’s already certain that something bad has happened to her. This will definitely force Makoto to rethink how he views humans, especially since his companions are all monsters. If the anime does follow the same route as That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, then this might be the series’ dark turning point. In the instance that Tomoe’s offshoot is confirmed to have been severely injured or killed, then Makoto’s kind demeanor may turn 180 degrees. This will mean that humanity is doomed, especially since Makoto’s mana is said to be already at par with the Goddess.

This is, of course, not the only possibility. The other possibility is that Makoto will accept the damages and charge it to experience. This does not mean he will just let the adventurers go, but he may not take out his anger on the entire mankind. He will definitely need to rethink his future plans, but it may not be as dark as we expect it to be.

Final Thoughts

Humans, it seems, are always up to no good. Be it in the real or fictional world, there are those who will take advantage of others’ kindness. Even though Rimuru has decided to become a demon lord after such an incident, it doesn’t necessarily mean that Makoto will do the same. That possibility, however, still exists. As frustrating as it is, the only thing we can do at the moment is wait.

Manga and anime were big parts of my childhood. I grew up watching Yu Yu Hakusho, Slam Dunk, One Piece, and Dragon Ball Z. Those were probably one of the happiest and most carefree days of my life. In fact, most of my values are probably molded by manga. No, that's not an exaggeration.
