LucidSound’s LS41Surround Sound Gaming Headset is their newest release this year with the LS50, its soon to be the successor and Snoop Dogg Edition, releasing at the end of the year for the holiday’s. There are going to be some differences between the two but not too much. The differences will in fact be game changers but at the same time, each model’s purpose is specific. What we’ll be focusing on is the LS41!

The LS41 is designed for comfort and performance while keeping gamers in mind with its functions and design. The LS41 is LucidSound’s ultimate headset with integrated sound features for total immersion while playing your favorite games. In this review, we’ll be talking about all there is when you first purchase the headset to experiencing all of its glory. Without further ado, let’s jump right in.

The LS41 has a very smooth and sleek look to it that compliments the materials it uses. The headband on the top has a hard plastic, matte black finish with LucidSound written in the middle, while under the headband, there’s a leatherette material covering it which also has very nicely stitched crisscross design with foam materials stuffed in for head support and comfort.

The LS41 headset frame is of metal material with a gun-metal finish and also has a very smooth and fluid design that is simple yet, unique. On each side of the LS41 is a 2-function dial/button feature on which the left side controls the game volume (dial) and muting the game all-together (button), while the right side controls the Chat volume (dial) and muting the Chat as well (button).

There are other features on the headset to further your experience. On the left side of the headset, you have the On/Off button (obviously), the USB plugin port for charging your phone, the Auxiliary port (for chat and mobile capabilities), and the Mic port for your detachable Boom mic for live streaming/eSport gaming (which there is a built-in mic for use without the Boom mic). On the left side of the LS41, you have the Equalizer button which has modes: Stereo, Super Stereo Wide, and Super Stereo Front. This uses the DTS Surround sound system built-in to the headset and let us tell you, it is glorious sounding!

The last in this department, are the earcups for the headset. They have been specially designed for comfort with a lot that LucidSound kept in mind. They wanted to make sure you can game for long periods of time while not having any issues with your ears getting tired from the pressure or developing sensitive pressure points on your head where the headset rests, The LS41 has a wonderful and easy to replace design with materials consisting of memory foam and a cooling gel layered on top for heated situations while gaming.

You’ll definitely need that extra comfort since the LS41’s battery life is 20-hours! And it is comfortable indeed!

Getting started on enjoying your new headset is a very simple setup. There are simple setups for each console and type. For PlayStation 4 and the Pro, the setup is using the optimal cable with the USB Base Station to allow for wireless play. Of course, if you have a Slim version, then the optimal cable needs to be plugged into the TV. And for Xbox One, it is also the same setup of using the Base Station and the optimal cable with the console.

The only thing is that the PS4 console—with any version—allows for stereo sound and chat simultaneously while with the Xbox One, you’ll need to use the Mobile 3.5mm Cable with your headset in order to talk with your friends or team. This is most likely due to the fact that the LS41 is specifically designed for the PS4 while the LS35X model is fo the Xbox One so we can only imagine that it works exactly how the PS4 version would, wirelessly. For PC users, and at least with us, the LS41 booted up automatically and all we really needed to do was make sure it was set as the Default Audio for the audio and you are set! You just to acquire the firmware installer/updater for the headset, go through the setup process, and you’re good to go! Seem a bit tedious but really, it isn’t

The LS41 headset comes in a very nice polyester/nylon-like bag with soft fabric lacing inside that looks and feels like microfibers, to make sure your headset is protected and without scuffing. You have a USB cable for charging the LS41 and it usually takes about an hour to charge with a 20-hour lifespan until you need to plug it in again. Now that is awesome and a great feature so to keep players immersed in their games without interruption.

Once everything is set up and you’re ready to dive into your favorite game, you will have a few options to set in order to enjoy the LS41 to the fullest, depending on each individual user, of course. The Equalizer is one thing and the other is making sure you have your game volume settings setup to your specifications. For the Equalizer modes, Stereo is your basic sound option which we all have experienced before but then you have Super Stereo Wide and Front. These modes use the 7.1 DTS surround system and helps with specific games as sound is very much a huge part of winning when playing competitive online multiplayer games, such as Call of Duty, CS:GO, Apex Legends, and more.

This is especially in particular with foot movement and your surroundings overall with games like the aforementioned, which can be a deal-breaker for you in competitions or streaming live and wanting that perfect match! Sound/audio goes a really long way and LucidSound delivers with there lag-free connectivity and a 30ft range from where the receiver originates from. This is performance at its best.
