Our 5 Favorite Vampire Girls From The Last Five Years

With all the numerous types of monsters in folklore, it’s amazing how the vampire has managed to stay so popular throughout the centuries. Perhaps it’s that almost sensual feeding or killing method of biting a person’s neck, or the promise of eternal beauty. While vampire anime girls tend to be cute and small, the last 5 years have shown us some immortal blood-drinkers you might be ok spending eternity with.

5. Hikari from Demi-chan wa Kataritai (Interviews with Monster Girls)

  • Episodes: 12
  • Air Date: January 2017 – March 2017

While a name like Hikari (light) may seem out of place for a vampire, Hikari brightens up people’s lives with her positive and teasing nature. She spends her days at school with other monster girls and human children and trying to avoid her sister’s reprimands. For the most part, she’s like most young human girls with hopes and aspirations and a desire to connect with others.

While many vampires keep their true natures a secret either to trick others or to protect themselves, Hikari is proud to be a vampire and likes to show off her fangs. She doesn’t have any negative feelings for humans given that she was raised in a loving human household and would like other humans to know about vampires more so everyone can get along. Hikari’s a little curious about what it would be like to drink blood from a human but she’s quite content with her government-issued blood packs.

4. Agatha from Sirius (Sirius the Jaeger)

  • Episodes: 12
  • Air Date: July 2018 - September 2018

As part of the vampire clan, Agatha sees herself and her people as highest on the food chain with everyone else nuisances or sustenance. She has a cruel nature going beyond apathy at other’s suffering; she enjoys being the cause of it. As a member of the group of vampires sent to find the Ark of Sirius, the only possible cure for a vampire plague wiping out their clan, she particularly delights in killing members of the Sirius clan.

While she can blend in with humans or use her good looks and mind control to get what she wants, she is quite capable of viciously ripping people apart or sucking them dry. When she gets serious, her lips pull back in a snarl, exposing her sharp teeth and nails grow long and sharp. She fights like a vicious beast trying to destroy its prey.

3. Shiragami Youko from Jitsu wa Watashi wa (Actually, I am…)

  • Episodes: 13
  • Air Date: July 2015 – September 2015

Shiragami Youko is just a normal, quiet girl trying to get through high school, or so it seems until her classmate Asahi catches her in an empty room with her bat wings exposed! It turns out Youko is actually a vampire that has to keep her true nature a secret or she’ll be forced to come home for good. Trying to enjoy a vibrant high school life is hard with so much at stake!

Youko tries to hide things like her huge wings and sharp fangs from others but otherwise, you’d never guess she was a vampire. Vampires like Youko only tan in the sun, and drinking blood is only something you do to someone you love. When she becomes flustered, bats fly frantically around her. But once she has someone she can trust with her secret, her true confidence and warm personality shine through.

2. Krul Tepes from Owari no Seraph (Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign)

  • Episodes: 12
  • Air Date: April 2015 – June 2015

Despite looking like a young girl, Krul Tepes is one of the strongest vampires in the world. Being the queen of Japan earns her the respect and fear of vampires and humans alike. She has no love for humans, as she has seen the worst of their kind, and only values them as livestock. She also keeps the rest of the vampire council at arm’s length, not always seeing eye-to-eye with some of their more cruel objectives.

Krul Tepes has incredible strength and speed and regenerates extremely quickly, which is good for someone who is constantly fighting. She can only consume blood but does not do so to the point of killing her sources, and instead uses the vampires’ method of keeping humans as cattle and drinking from them as they need. While not able to be in sunlight without protection, she has almost no other weakness except for her favorite vampire servant, Mika.

1. Sophie Twilight from Tonari no Kyuuketsuki-san (Ms. Vampire that Lives in My Neighborhood)

  • Episodes: 12
  • Air Date: October 2018 – ongoing

Sophie is a rather eccentric girl who doesn’t mind others knowing she is a vampire. She expects most people would stay away from her but she’s surprised by a strange girl with a doll-fixation who attaches herself to Sophie due to her pretty, petite frame. Living alone in a dark mansion is peaceful but Sophie decides that if her new friend Akari is going to invite herself over anyway, she could get used to the idea of a human companion.

Sophie hits many of the common ideas about vampires; she drinks blood, can’t stand sunlight, and doesn’t age. She flies Akari out of the forest after announcing she is a vampire and is unconcerned with what a human might do with that knowledge. Scarier to her is when Akari decides to move in and inconvenience Sophie with her human tendencies. She also likes to shop online both for blood and otaku goods and enjoys late-night anime!

Hey friends! I reside in Georgia and use my degree in Japanese primarily to (barely) read doujinshi that hasn’t been translated. Beyond deciding who is best girl in whatever I happen to be watching, I really enjoy ballroom dancing, reading, crying over dating sims, karaoke, and being surrounded by beautiful things~ (You know, scenery, décor, boys, stuff like that). I also love talking about passions with others!
